Kind of amazes me that despite lessons taught by history that they're people who seem happy to go on the path towards fascism

all this talk about fascism is really going backwards isnt it? i mean, doesnt fascism go along with dictatorship? it definitely doesnt make sense for the US at least.

@Penny point of fascism is to idealise the past
@Penny It absolutely makes sense for the US. And fascist countries don't start out as dictatorships. The US is going the way of the Weirmar Republic almost like Trump is using it as a how to manual.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow well in the definition from google it says fascism is also about race. teh US is a blend of races so thats why it wouldnt make sense.
@Penny That is a poor definition. Fascism is about hyper nationalism and in groups and scapegoats. It is not about race specifically.

Even 80 years ago that didn't apply. Only Germany made it about race. Italy, Hungary, Romania, Spain, and many more fascists then and now didn't care about race or Jews.

Who is blamed varies from one local variant to the next and always has. It also relies on a made up fantasy of an ideal historical past. Like MAGA, or in Fascist Italy a fantasy version of the Roman Empire to look back at.
