Yes, just two wings on the same bird.

I'm an Independent voter. I've seen a lot of VERY nasty and dishonest politicians, and I want to be able to switch hit when I vote.
Trump was like a breath of fresh air. He's a businessman, first and foremost, and I think we owe it to him to give him more than ONE year in his second year to succeed.
I don't even count his first term, because I have a memory, and I DO remember that he spent his whole first term fighting off lawsuits and impeachments.

A situation not unique to the USA, I'm afraid.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
Both Parties are funded out of the same rich purses and special interest groups. And as long as that is allowed things are not going to change. Dont expect original ideas, long term planning or any real progress. The rich like things just the way they are..😷

It seems apparent, at least on the surface that inflation has been increasing since Biden's day, as if Biden or Trump for that matter had anything to do with the rise in inflation in America. Neither of those idiots have anything to do with that equation.
It wasn't really just an arbitrary increase in cost of living as you have suggested, that was imposed upon the poor at the hand of the rich in America, it was actually the continuous devaluation of the US Dollar since the time of Eisenhower that has been masked as 'inflation' allegedly caused by the rich, just to get richer. Whoever told you it is the fault of the rich was not a rich person, I can guarantee you that much. Lesson learned: never take financial advice from the poor.
The USA owes almost $38 Trillion in National Debt today and it takes 60% of every tax dollar taken in by the IRS just to pay the interest-owing on that debt each year.
That leaves just 40% of all taxation to run the country, which is also why the US infrastructure is crumbling from coast to coast and is in desperate need of repair or replacement... but there's no money, honey.
The US Dollar is declining in value at a steady pace as a result of it's failing credit rating on the global stage which is reflected as the apparent rise in inflation and which appears to be imposed onto poorer Americans by the richer Americans. The truth is, the rich have nothing to do with inflation, nor did Biden, nor does Trump.
If the USA had no National Debt at all, it would be the richest country in the world. The reason the USA is not the richest country in the world is because it is drowning in it's own self-imposed National Debt and failing credit rating.
Since the time of Eisenhower, Americans have been living beyond their means, which means the whole country has been living on borrowed money for 70 years while pretending to be living rich and debt-free.

Oh, I agree completely with you!
Every summer I go to the annual Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games (.ca), which are held only an hour's drive from where I live in Toronto. There are probably a dozen bagpipe bands, each of which the Scots refer to as a "blether", so 12 blethers in total I guess!
At some point, they all perform at the same time and when they start up with "Scotland the Brave", for some reason I always turn into a blubbering blether lover every time and it happens to me every year. I don't get that way when I hear anything about the USA, which seems odd to me.

@swirlie Alternate words to Scotland the Brave, (Credit to Billy Connolly) that my wife always hated, being a Glasgow girl:
"Land that has known no dangers,
Land that is full of strangers
Home of the Glasgow Rangers
Scotland the Brave."😷

When it comes to foreign policy, the parties are the same. But let's be real, the Republicans are infinitely worse on domestic issues.
Northwest · M
Seems like the 2 are the same really.
Absolutely not.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Northwest To be fair, there are minor differences. (At least to outside observers they seem minor. The Democrats used to be more left, but drifted right in response to donations and media bias. And the same can be said for the Republicans. It used to be that Democrats wanted opportunity for all and progressive social change.. While Republicans were more Conservative and accepted there would always be the poor and they were fine with that. Now Democrats accept there will always be poor and are sort of OK with it, while Republicans just wish they would hurry up and crawl off out of sight to die.😷

@whowasthatmaskedman My point is that the landscape presented by the OP does not take the Trump effect into consideration. It's if it doesn't exist and political calculations are normal.
Economics, taxation, the "social contract" and race relations assumptions were thrown out the window. Even the assumptions we relied on from almost day one, essentially the Three Equal but Independent powers, and the safety of our melting pot, are now represented by two polar forces, NOT a sliding scale. And Trump wants winner takes all.

@Northwest its the only game Trump understands..On "The Apprentice" he got to fire the "Loser". In this game he and his cronies are the only winners. The rest of America will be "fired."😷

@LordShadowfire I'm trying to see where I said that
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@Barracuda Sorry. I'm a bit grumpy today because I'm losing longtime friends because it turns out they aren't okay with folks like me, and they were just hiding it.
Barracuda · 51-55, M
@LordShadowfire No biggie I get it, friend.
