Yes, but it's also because of covid. People stopped driving, causing the price of oil to plummet, then when the pandemic ended, everyone went back to driving, thus causing the price of oil to skyrocket. It was the same in every country.

@BohemianBabe The way to prevent this would have been no lockdowns and government enforced social distancing.
@emiliya It wouldn't have made a difference. People stopped leaving their houses before the lockdowns. Everyone was afraid of catching the rona.

@BohemianBabe This was due to the media and its constant coverage of the virus. From March 2020, they had the covid media machine running 24/7. Day and night, covid was all they were talking about. This is what made people scared to go out, in addition to the enforced social distancing and restrictions. Most people became frustrated with it quickly and wanted to break free by the summer of 2020, but some did not find it in them to break free until a year after. It is an unnatural state to be in and horrible for the economy. Disrupting the supply chains and causing economic activity to halt over a period of 1–2 years caused more damage than covid could ever do.

Duh, it was a global pandemic involving a highly contagious virus. Was the media not supposed to cover it? Not that it would have made much of a difference in terms of people being afraid to go outside. Pretty much everyone knew someone who caught covid, a lot of us know someone who died of it. If the media ignored it, people probably would have been even more afraid, since we wouldn't know anything about this virus tearing through the world.

@BohemianBabe We also hear of people who die from the flu, but it doesn't stop us going outside. Humans have a natural desire to go outside and they also need to go to work. We like to go to bars, clubs, pursue our hobbies, and do other fun things. One of my favorite hobbies is tennis, and during summer months being outside is my favorite thing. I feel most people feel the same way about going out, even those who like staying in need to go out sometimes. Without the media constantly covering the virus and telling everyone, more or less, that it was going to kill them, people would have gone out and done everything the same. I am certain of it.
@emiliya i dont go to bars

But before the vaccine, deaths from covid were way more common, plus we knew very little about it. All we knew was that this new highly contagious disease was killing people. The media could have ignored it, but people were sharing stories all over social media. Blaming the media for being scared of covid would be like blaming the media for people not wanting to go outside during a rainstorm.

@emiliya Mostly nepo-douches and drug addicts frequent bars and clubs, to feel some sort of validation in their nightmarish lives. The media coverage didn't create the government mandates. Maybe we should share objective opinions, instead of our baseless feelings.

@BohemianBabe It was killing a few people, and they were people with comorbidities. We should have taken responsibility for ourselves and our families instead of depending on the government to tell us what to do, like mindless morons. It is a natural desire to go out, and it serves our needs, so without the government and media telling us to stay inside, we would have lived our lives normally. I didn't listen to them and didn't catch covid until May 2022, and it was fine. I also did not get vaccinated. At the time, they said anyone dealing with patients needed to be vaccinated. People lost their careers, future careers, and jobs for not getting the vaccine. Now, natural immunity has proven it all to be wrong. The media were covering covid all the time, and it was not the public compelling them to do that.
@emiliya You seem to think people were hunkering down and refusing to drive because the government or the media told them to. This was happening before the lockdowns or before covid dominated the media. People were hearing about covid deaths from social media or from family members who died.
@emiliya Muslims don't like going to bars and nightclubs because they're brainwashed by their religion to view pretty much anything fun in life to be prohibited or with restrictions attached...well, except the so-called progressive and cultural/secular Muslims that are viewed as disbelievers by the rest of the Islamic world
@BohemianBabe i think i almost died from covid-19 when i got infected by my dad of the Omnicron variant

They say alcohol is prohibited by Allah, but some of them take drugs.

This was not my experience. Even the doctors and nurses were dismissing covid at first. They did not think it would spread so much. At first, I didn't see anyone wearing masks and they were going out as normal. The media started telling them that covid was getting out of control and that large numbers were dying, and the people became scared to go out. It wasn't enough for some, hence the lockdowns. The government had to ensure they would all stay inside. Prior to the fearmongering and lockdowns, there were barely any people I met who were scared enough to not go out. We all heard about China, but they wanted to live their lives.

@uikakarotuevegeta I also had the omicron variant. It was ok, I would say very mild.

I am unvaccinated
