My recommendation is start shopping "intentionally." What I mean by that, is if you haven't already, start your shopping at the Dollar Tree or any other dollar store, and buy what you need starting there. Obviously, they don't carry all the brands and not all the sizes everyone might require, but it's a good start for some essential and nonessential items.
Then move on to discount stores like Walmart and try to save money there. Then as a last resort, move on to the grocery stores and pharmacies, these are the most expensive, but if you must buy there, save it for only the items you can't live without.
