I Am Concerned About the Economy

Somebody please explain to me why we're destroying our economy, why we are sheltering in place? According to the CDC 30 -40 MILLION cases of the flu have been reported this year. 400k - 500k have been hospitalized. Approximately 50,000 have died. What in the heck is the difference?

Honestly I’m trying to figure out why we get unemployment, severance pay for a job we are going back to, a stimulus check and $600 a week while on unemployment additionally. I must be missing something. So we are being overpaid to stay home the way I understand it.
