What historical naval power lets it's navy fall apart?

Depending on the US for all their heavy lifting while corrupt Brit politicians redistribute the cash?

@MasterLee NATO didn't support the US. The UK, through Lloyd's of London had a deal with Iran...They conspired to control the flow of oil in and out of the straight by raising insurance premiums on shipping. If either needed a little cash or wanted Global oil prices to spike, Iran would shoot out a few windows on some ships and the premiums rose. Seems to explain why , along with not maintaining their ships, why they are so pro Iranian immigrant and so anti the US actions at stopping Iran from getting a nuke. We also know why , now, Trump did not tell NATO of his plans regarding the attack.

Sorry Master Lee, but I need to correct this. Look, there's a lot wrong with NATO, I'll be the first to admit that. But in it's entire history there is only one nation that was attacked and protected by Article 5's mutual defense protections. That was the United States on September 12, 2001.

If you recall, all our forces were forward deployed and our east coast was unprotected. Within hours of the attacks on New York and Washington British jets were in the air screaming across the Atlantic to take up Combat Air Patrol missions up and down our east coast. The next day on September 12th, the Atlantic Council invoked Article 5 and NATO was with us.

The UK was with us and NATO all the way on that day and in the days, weeks, months, and years that followed.

@sarabee1995 The UK as it currently sits is a far cry from the UK 25 years ago. As is the US, in opposite directions. NATO as it exists today is a paper tiger. Europe has walked itself into an immigration and energy crisis and can't maintain a functional military.

@TexChik It appears that the European military is taking shape. Maybe it's late to the party, but it is happening.
