@Elessar historically socialist and communist regimes are more oppressive toward LGBTQ+ people. Jail is harsher than not being allowed to get married. I hope this helps

And we aren't talking about those countries. also since you want to russia is an authoritan and an authoritian capitalist.it's not the same...

we're talking about the left supporting communism even though it directly contradicts what "liberals" are supposed to be. And communism has a historical tendency to be oppressive to EVERY group you want to "liberate" 😂

The way you are now. LOL

@DeluxedEdition Historically all regimes are, regardless of their economic policy. Hitler didn't treat LGBT any better than Stalin. There's also more examples of anti-LGBT capitalist systems than of pro-LGBT ones lol

Supporting an economic model has zero to do with the social axis. It's like saying it's hypocritical for a leftist to smoke because most people who smoke weren't sympathetic with their cause. It makes absolutely no sense

All these are perfectly valid positions:
- Leftist (communist), pro-LGBT
- Leftist (communist), anti-LGBT
- Rightist (capitalist), pro-LGBT
- Rightist (capitalist), anti-LGBT

Because, you know, whether people can bang people of the same sex or not doesn't really affect the economy 🥴
heard Castro wasnt very friendly toward the LGBT community.
It’s a bit more graphic in Muslim and some African countries.

You're going to use Cuba as an example for that point? Okay let's go
. Before the Cuban Revolution, Cuba had laws that criminalized homosexual men.[105][106][107] Even so, male homosexuality was an important part of the prostitution industry for tourists and the US military, but associated with gambling and criminal activity.[108][107][109]

After the Revolution, the position regarding homosexuality continued to be primarily negative, and some LGBTQ people chose to emigrate,[107][108] since homosexuality was associated with US imperialism and perceived as "bourgeoisie".[110][111][112] However, the law that criminalized homosexuality was repealed in 1979.[113] Since the late 1990s, public antipathy towards LGBTQ people eased, having implemented several educational campaigns on LGBTQ issues, including the National Center for Sex Education (CENESEX), organization of pride parades every May to coincide with the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia[114] and marking the LGBTQ History Month.[115]

The Communist Party of Cuba included the defense of LGBTQ rights in its regulations in 2013[116][117] and legalized same-sex marriage, civil unions, same-sex adoption and altruistic surrogacy, among other things, through amendments to the Cuban Constitution following the 2022 Cuban Family Code referendum.[118]

Try doing some research. Communist/socialists governments have a varied and diverse stance on LGBTQ groups. Just the same as capitalist societies have. It has nothing to do with the ideology as much as it did/does with the pre-existing cultural norms. It's just as much on a nation by nation basis in both

@MethDozer homosexuality was ILLEGAL in cuba as in you go to jail for being gay.

LGBTQ+ people were marginalized, sent to labor camps in the 60s, and only started gaining legal protections starting in the 2000s.
same sex adoptions were only legalized in 2021. Not to mention they still face individual discrimination.

So maybe you could consider taking your own advice on the research. 😂

and actually it does have to do with the ideology considering the most restrictive countries for lgbt are socialist/communist countries
MethDozer · M
@DeluxedEdition You used Cuba as an example stating it is illegal. It no longer It was never illegal in Socialist Poland. It was never illegal in Socialist Congo. I can keep going on

The point is trying to paint this picture that communist and socialist countries treat gay any different than capitalist countries is BS. I can find just as many examples of capitalist countries that have and/or continue to oppressed the gay community as you can communist. Do your research the two economic and political models the world over have both liberated and oppressed homosexuals at an even clip. Bit has nothing to with those ideologies and everything to do with the societal cultures they exist in.

The most restrictive countries are not inherently socialist/communist. It's unrelated
MethDozer · M
@DeluxedEdition Historically every government and regime is hostile towards homosexuals. capitalist included and historically capitalism has been the dominate and is currently the dominate model. So yeah when most of the world is capitalist. It's going to statistically align.

You think the USA, AU, UK, France, Japan, etc. Has a long and rich history of treating LGBTQ very well? Well buckle up sister because they haven't. It's a pretty recent development
