Praising Communism While Enjoying All the Benefits of Living Under Capitalism

I've never understood why so many who like to praise communism don't just pack up their stuff (which they wouldn't have if they lived under a communist regime) and move to a communist country. You're free to leave, you know. No one is keeping you in, for example, England, Germany or Canada.
That being the case, why are you still here? If capitalism is so bad, so "oppressive", "racist" and all that other jazz, then GO!
Go on! Leave! Move to China. I'll even buy your plane ticket (one-way of course)! 😊

I strongly share your sentiments, on the condition it actually is communism and not just socially progressive policy that some people call communism, to save themselves from actually thinking about it in any depth.

@Castenmas Many of my generation follow marxist ideals because they have always been a driving factor behind things such as workers rights, feminism, childrens rights ...
What Cassie is refering to are authoritarian states that use left wing imagery.
Originally communism refers to a classless society and communist movements those who want to create such a society. No state has ever been communist they have all been Socialist. Both terms being defined broadly and have different interpretations.

@Gloomy And yet you’ve never had to live in a Marxist state. Perhaps you should take your beliefs for a road test and relocate to Hanoi.

@Castenmas I'm from romania my family has lived under "communism" - Socialism.
A marxist state is a silly concept to begin with because marxism is a critical theory and not a governing principal.
Also not a response to my comment.
@Gloomy Romania. Ask your parents about Ceausescu, and whether they thought he was a wise and wonderful man. 😊
Gloomy · F
@Cassie2083 For my people (Romani) things have been slightly better but overall he wasn't great but capitalism fucked us too.
Castenmas · M
@Gloomy Possibly but I’m not contractually obliged to respond to everyone’s scribbles.
Gloomy · F
@Castenmas ok but not very respectful
Castenmas · M
@Gloomy It’s not disrespectful either.
Gloomy · F
@Castenmas but not a good faith argument either

@Cassie2083 also is christianity and capitalism responsible for Franco, Dollfuß, Batista,... ?
@Gloomy Christians created the very first hospitals, orphanages, universities, and they preserved the knowledge of the Roman Empire after it collapsed.
Dictators like Franco, Batista, Pinochet and so on may have claimed to be Christian, but their behaviour proved otherwise.
