Got a couple of challenges for you. First define communism then point to a communist society that thrives.
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@hippyjoe1955 communism has never been established. It advocates for common ownership of the means of production, class division being abolished and a society without a state
DogMan · 61-69, M
@hippyjoe1955 Don't you know? They say that it just has not been done right.

They all know how to do it right. Because they are young, and have very little
life experience. They all believe you can have it all, by doing very little,
under communism.

@DogMan baseless nonsense
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@Guitarman123 So you imagine a system that you can't define and can't find an example because you think it is utopia. How very droll.
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@hippyjoe1955 I've just defined it. Workers owning the means of production, no class division or a state
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@Guitarman123 so you want the workers to be capitalists? They would be the owners which by definition is capital.
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@hippyjoe1955 capitalists own private property that exploits the workers through a hierarchy. Common ownership is where workers run the business equally with no hierarchy
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@Guitarman123 so you want the workers to be capitalists? They own the capital which is the means of production. A farmer therefore must own his farm. A factory worker must own the factory.
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@hippyjoe1955 capitalists are against workers owning the means of production
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@Guitarman123 Capitalists are about making a living. They need to hire people in order to run their business. Capital simply means something of value. If you own the means of production on the farm you must own the farm. A farm is a capital asset. To quote a famous economist. "If a socialist/communist understood economics they would not be a socialist communist". So let's go one step farther. Who will determine who 'owns' what?
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@hippyjoe1955 capitalists are about making profits and surplus value through exploiting workers because they have less money so are willing to do the harder work for at best a living wage. Workers owning the means of production ends that exploitive system as all own the business equally. Socialists aren't against making money, they are against making money at the expense of others who are less fortunate
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@Guitarman123 What is wrong with making surpluses? It is called laying aside for a rainy day. If you have nothing to fall back on you have nothing to fall back on when hard times hit and hard times will always hit.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Guitarman123 Who da boss in your workers paradise?
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@sunsporter1649 workers themselves
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@hippyjoe1955 it's called being greedy by making more money than you actually need.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@Guitarman123 So when one of them decides to take a month off so he can suntan he should be supported?
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Guitarman123 And to think you buy into that. Amusing
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@Guitarman123 Define greed.
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@hippyjoe1955 you mean paid holiday? Yes absolutely, I've currently being on paid time off
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@Guitarman123 So why should all the other workers have to pay for the 'vacation' they are not getting?
