Who said that ?

GUNS aren't the problem
GUNS need somebody to pull the trigger

MENTALLY DISTURBED people are the problem

SOCIETY is the problem
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@pdockal guns are the biggest cause of deaths of children
@pdockal you could ask yourself why guns are needed especially the amount that is circulating through our country.

@Guitarman123
Ughhhhh
GUNS need people so people are the killers GUNS are just the mechanism of choice

DON'T BLAME GUNS FOR BAD PEOPLES ACTIONS
@pdockal but Guns are also created for the purpose of killing so every time someone kills with a gun they are fullfilling its purpose

@RebelliousSpirit
First of all that is NOT the question to ask in this situation
You should ask why the idiots decided that killing was their choice
Second .... study or history and understand the importance of the declaration of independence and bill of rights and hopefully you will understand why guns are necessary

Ughhhhh
Guns don't kill unless a person uses them
They are instruments

So let's ban knives since they kill
Let's ban drugs since they kill
Let's ban alcohol since it kills
Let's ban cars since it kills
Let's ban cigarettes since they kill

@pdockal knives, alcohol, drugs, cars... all have different usages besides killing. Why the fuck are guns listed with common goods... insane how normalized weapons are in our society.

Why do most of you say this… it’s like saying potatoes don’t get cooked if someone doesn’t boil them..

Of course everything (including tools, home appliance and weapons) need someone to use them properly … but have guns proven to have protected lives more than destroying them??
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@pdockal no one is suggesting that anyone bans guns. What we're suggesting is just that it should be better regulated. You have rights, but with rights come responsibilities.
If gun ownership was treated like car ownership, gun deaths would reduce dramatically.
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@pdockal allowing guns to go into the pocession of mentally unwell people is also fault of the state

@pdockal

A society that is addicted to guns.
Slade · 56-60, M
@Guitarman123 so you are admitting that a Christian hating tranny is unwell?

@pdockal guns need to be made illegal
@pdockal No it was merely something I noticed.
Your argumentation is shit and you are one of those insane people believing guns to be just a common good and your history argument doesn't hold up either.
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@pdockal So why arent we doing anything about mentally disturbed people and their access to guns?
badminton · 61-69, MVIP
@pdockal It's the easy availability of guns that is the problems. Guns guns guns.
pdockal · 56-60, M
@badminton
What's easy about it ?
There's a process and fees
Criminals don't follow the process
trollslayer · 46-50, M
@pdockal My 5 year old thinks you attack someone with a gun by "throwing" it at them. :) I generally agree that the person holding the gun is the problem. The thing with guns in comparison to cars, drugs, alcohol, etc is that they are designed for some other purpose but are sometimes used to kill. Guns are designed to kill and are sometimes used for other purposes. What the NRA and gun enthusiasts fail to realize, is that all the kids growing up in the "school scooting" era eventually grow up and will likely be pretty anti-gun. Before long, they will vastly outnumber the gun enthusiasts and things will shift. The NRA's best move is probably to make some "feel good" concession now in hopes that it will stave off inevitable broader restrictions that are inevitable when these kids become the dominant voting bloc.
@pdockal So we should increase funding for mental health care?
pdockal · 56-60, M
@LeopoldBloom
HELL YES
That's only one layer of protection
Increase penalties for criminals using a gun and fucking enforce those laws
Free training courses in gun safety required of ALL citizens (teach in schools)
Safety refreshes for ALL gun owners
Better outlets for kids

I could go on
carpediem · 61-69, M
@Soossie Respectfully, the reason the USA has gun ownership baked into our constitution is to protect the citizenry from an out of control government. The US citizen constitutes the largest weaponized group in the world. When considering the original intention, it's a different view.

I personally own weapons. Most people I know do. They aren't out shooting the place up. The fault, in my opinion, is an omission in the law regarding unstable individuals who have mental health issues.

The comparison between gun rights and a child's life is disingenuous. There are plenty of things that can be done, but nothing is because of the demagoguery displayed by both sides of the argument. The original poster's comments fit right into that description.
@pdockal So why don't the Republican politicians who right now are saying "this is a mental health problem," proposing increased funding for mental health care? It's almost like they're saying that just to deflect from the real problem.
