Shouldn't the British government allowed the parents of baby Charlie Gard to take him to the states?

Yes. I don't know the facts of why the doctors won't allow him to be moved but from what I read they want to take him off life support anyways. Which is why it's strange they wouldn't approve of the child going to the states or getting medical care elsewhere.

This leaves me with no other option than to assume that the doctors are afraid he'll get care and get better. This would make them look bad so seems like they just want to kill a baby before that happens.

@SatanBurger You should look up the story then get the facts.

@Gumba1000 You should refrain from telling me what to do.

@SatanBurger You should refrain from telling me what to do.

@Gumba1000 That doesn't make any sense. I wouldn't have to tell you what to do if you didn't do it to me first.
Gumba1000 · M
@SatanBurger It does make sense if you see the irony.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Gumba1000 I see the irony in someone who just didn't like my opinion.

@SatanBurger Your first sentence says (you) "don't know the facts of why the doctors don't want to move him". If you knew those facts you could have an informed opinion. Instead you decided to make an opinion based on your assumptions. People on this same post have mentioned why the doctors don't want to move him.

This is a sad case and if discussed should be about what fact and not what is assumed.

Sorry I am just very upset with this story.

@Gumba1000 I did read. The parents are seeking experimental treatment and an American doctor said experimental treatment could have a possible chance to help the baby. So my opinion stands.
Gumba1000 · M
@SatanBurger So why were the doctors appealing?
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Gumba1000 I don't know why were the parents wanting experimental treatment but denied? Power and control.
Gumba1000 · M
@SatanBurger You don't know. You haven't read it then as you claimed.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Gumba1000 I read the parents want experimental treatment and there is a doctor that says there is a chance. My opinion won't change.
Pherick · 41-45, M
@SatanBurger Where did you read the experimental procedure had a chance? Last I had read, he said there was no chance of helping this baby.

Please realize as well, doctors are supposed to "do no harm". Moving a brain dead baby across the world for a treatment that won't help it, doesn't fall into that "do no harm" idea.
Gumba1000 · M
@SatanBurger The UK doctors evaluated it and worked out that the potential benefit is negligible. That's why they are against it. The last baby that had the experimental treatment died soon after it. Even after the treatment in America Charlie will never gain consciousness. He will be in a coma for life.

@Pherick It was posted just four hours ago so it's probably fairly new.
Pherick · 41-45, M
@Gumba1000 This is what I had heard last, that even if by some literal miracle, this treatment "cured" the baby, he was still brain dead, nothing will fix that.
Gumba1000 · M
@Pherick Yep. I have been explaining that to these people. They don't seem to understand that.
