Will Trump's continuing disregard for the truth destroy completely whatever remains of his credibility ?

The conservative-leaning Wall Street Journal has an editorial out today with serious criticisms of President Trump for his “seemingly endless stream of exaggerations, evidence-free accusations, implausible denials and other falsehoods.”

The crux of the editorial concerns the president’s wiretapping claim that has been refuted by a number of intelligence officials and the heads of the House and Senate Intel Committees. Yet, in the words of the Journal, Trump “clings to his assertion like a drunk to an empty gin bottle.”

The editorial board concluded: "Two months into his Presidency, Gallup has Mr. Trump’s approval rating at 39%. No doubt Mr. Trump considers that fake news, but if he doesn’t show more respect for the truth most Americans may conclude he’s a fake President."

Wall St. Journal actually ..... maybe you missed that bit.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@pezzza: You don't understand, opposing viewpoints are automatically categorized as "fake news."
LegendofPeza · 61-69, M
@BlueMetalChick: I guess the (conservative) Wall St. Journal must be fake news as well then. Pretty soon there will be no 'real' news left. ;)
Lolz. What ever you say pezz. all you trump haters have been so right thus far. Zero evidence to go with it.. Didn't stocks reach an all time high just recently buoyed by trumps enthusiasm... Lol..
LegendofPeza · 61-69, M
@theoneyouwerewarnedabout: And didn't they have their biggest one day fall today when investors started to doubt that Trump could keep his promises ?
hlpflwthat · M
@theoneyouwerewarnedabout: Ummm - you may wanna take a look at the news, Edward Jones. That hasn't hit FOX yet?
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@theoneyouwerewarnedabout: I don't think you understand how a fiscal year works. We're still in Barack Obama's fiscal year, which means those changes in stocks are attributed to him. But I wouldn't expect you to know that. I suppose I'm setting my expectations a little high for someone like you to actually understand the most basic levels of economics.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@pezzza: He does this to me quite often. Whenever I remind him of why he's wrong, I get called a socialist and told to go sell it somewhere else. Because apparently "truths that I don't like" is synonymous with "socialism."
CassandraFemale17 · 26-30, F
@hlpflwthat: what have I missed?

Edward Jones?
hlpflwthat · M
@CassandraFemale17: Might have been a lil snarky and sarcastic there with the Edward Jones - my bad. And not the end of the world. Stocks just took their boggest drop since Sept today. Found it funny to hear him spewing about 45's stock magic today.
LegendofPeza · 61-69, M
@BlueMetalChick: What do you expect when everything that escapes his mouth is something he has picked up on alt-right websites. He was claiming recently , after the wire-tapping accusations , that it would be Obama who would end up in jail. There's just no sense in arguing with stupid like that.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@pezzza: God what is it with this wiretap thing? Is anyone actually taking that seriously?
LegendofPeza · 61-69, M
@BlueMetalChick: Just three people apparently ; Trump , Sean Spicer and theoneyouwerewarnedabout.
CassandraFemale17 · 26-30, F
@pezzza: he quotes Fox News as his Sources.

He has 17 intelligence gathering services he doesn't trust.....yet he trusts Fox News which is a propoganda and profit making machine, who succeed when riling people up!

He basically owns USA Intel, and he trust fake news more!
hlpflwthat · M
@CassandraFemale17: Lol my god it's embarrassing. He has twitter conversations with FOX & Friends! You couldn't make this shit up. 😎
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@CassandraFemale17: This is America, a country where homeland security will bar someone from boarding domestic flights on airplanes because they're suspected of being sympathizers for the Islamic State and therefore a potential threat of blowing up a plane, but they'll still sell him an assault rifle without any question.
CassandraFemale17 · 26-30, F
@hlpflwthat: I can't keep up with all the news/scandals.

I get updates from Disney about movies they are making, that were once fantasy based, but can now be based on Trump true stories.

They are making 5 movies

No. Now 6

Update....8 movies

Nope, they are now making 11 movies about Trump.

Lol

@BlueMetalChick: errrr pardon me for injecting my own ignoarance here, but stocks are traded daily.

Shouldn't a large rise in share price be attributed to what is happening in the news of the day? No one is suggesting a year has passed or that things will be more indicative after a year.

But stocks rise and fall on a day's news.
Ask any company whose shares have plummeted due to devastating news, or of reports they have misrepresented earnings, etc.

My point is, Trump can claim his victory leads to rising share prices, and your point is True that Obama should be credited with the chula economies performance.

Fell free to correct me, where I am wrong.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@CassandraFemale17: Stocks do change daily. Yes, they do. But even raises in stocks shouldn't be staked as claim for Trump's success. Not yet, anyway.
CassandraFemale17 · 26-30, F
@BlueMetalChick: I don't credit Trump

But I can see why they would go up, with a market that is pricing-in Trumps aversion for regulation, his loosening of banking regs, environmental regs, and their hope for huge future profits.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@CassandraFemale17: Well, yeah, that's a good point. Deregulation usually looks good for the first moments. You're right.
LegendofPeza · 61-69, M
@BlueMetalChick: The fact he even mentioned it in this thread was just a red herring.And in any case , the stock market is no indicator of how an economy is doing or the success or failure of a government.
LegendofPeza · 61-69, M
@CassandraFemale17: That's precisely it , and investors' realisation that he is unlikely to be able to keep to his promises or move any of his agenda forward is the reason behind the massive drop today.
CassandraFemale17 · 26-30, F
@hlpflwthat: oh no worries.

I just hadn't heard of Edward Jones, and as I'm a news junkie, I had no idea if you were referring to a news item. I looked it up, and decided you are fake news.

Kidding.
