@Niburu: You contradict yourself. There is no other plan for the people who are going to lose their healthcare, yet you applaud them losing their healthcare. A "discussion" doesn't pay the doctor's bills.
Niburu · 56-60, M
Again, no one here (including you) has any idea what is going to actually happen.
Regardless of anything else the ACA is going to fall apart and be unaffordable anyway (by design).
It can either be pulled down now and some modified version or something else new be put in.
Or you can watch it self destruct in the next 2 years as the insurance companies pull out and people can't afford the scheduled premium increases.

@Niburu: As I said, moderate Republicans asked him to leave things in place until they could come up with a viable replacement. But due to spite Trump and his cronies would rather leave their constituents with no safety net at all. And anyone not blinded by Trump worship can see it clearly. Even if Trump was taking steps to expand Medicare (which would've been Bernie's solution), it would be something.
I sleep through the night
I can now finish roofing my cupola
We have hopes of getting the restaurant staff health insurance
One large moth-balled project turned on
My timber projects have the pressure off
We moved ahead with a merger
Did I mention I sleep at night?

I've never been more proud of my country. The fact that the people stood up and said enough already, and slapped the establishment in the face pleases me greatly. But the ones who think they know what's best for us still have not figured it out. They sure are stupid.
OggggO · 36-40, M
The people chose Hillary Clinton. But because they were voting in the wrong places, the establishment told us we are getting Trump.
Hawnheart · 61-69
Just curious, but if the shoe were on the other foot?
No sides, just trying to understand how both sided think.

@lifeasmakamae: The "other foot" is saying over and over something needs to change and then voting for the same. The shoe has been on the other foot, many times. This isn't about republican or democrat, and it isn't about Trump. It's about the fact that for the past 8 years, in EVERY poll, between 65 and 75 % of Americans said we were headed in the wrong direction. That's not just repubs, that's a whole lot of dems as well. But while hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dems voted for trump, it was basically the right who actually did something about it by voting for change. Yes, i know the people thought they were voting for change in 2008 and again in 2012, but what did they get? If they got change it clearly wasn't the change they were looking for. As far as Trump is concerned, it remains to be seen if he was a mistake and if he is a mistake the people will learn from it and choose more wisely next time. Better men than these made mistakes, even with our constitution, thus the amendments. But make no mistake, this determination to return to government by the people is not going away. And those who understand that will be invited to come along, those who don;t will be told to f off.

Nothing really has changed in my life except now I enjoy listening to the President and I haven't laughed so much at the media being called out on their bullshit. I'm hopeful about the health insurance since I couldn't afford Obamacare and I get fined each year for not affording it. I do like having a President that loves America and wants to defend its borders and its people.

I can't read the news anymore without seeing several mentions of him.
I was at a 70th birthday party last weekend and Trump ended up being a topic of conversation at the end...
People really hate him ...it's depressing.

My suspicion that 3/4 of the US voters are idiots has been confirmed. 50% didn't bother to vote. Dumb. 25% voted for Trump. Stunningly dumb. I thought they were dumb for voting in George W. twice. But they have really screwed the pooch this time.
Knock, knock? Hello Canada. Do you have room for a refugee from the U.S.? This political insanity is a reality show I can't turn off. Help!

Well, the media has told the world he was something he isn't and many are not the least bit interested in knowing the truth. They may as well have one hand over their eyes and the other over their ears.

In order to move forward we need to clean up the mess that decades of bad decision made.

pay freezes, step freezes, health care preference limitations, departmental downsizing...
and this is just us grunts.. not a single thing has happened to the corrupt federals... the 'suits' so to speak.
which i didn't think it would be, others figured it was going to be that way but no. the big wigs are always immune.

A few political conservatives no longer speak, but it's been more socially active at local protest rallies (and no, no one's rioted at any that I've attended). 😄

@lifeasmakamae: I've really enjoyed his presidency so far. I think it's a shame that the media is still spreading lies about his character. Donald Trump wasn't a bigot, racist, homophobe, islamophobe or any thing else until he ran for President and both parties didn't want an outsider looking in on them. Citizens ought to be rallying support around him. If a Democratic outsider got in the ''drain the swamp'' I'd be so supportive of him. (or her)
Hawnheart · 61-69
The power of the media.
bijouxbroussard · F
@lifeasmakamae: Incidentally, in 2009 I attended a Tea Party gathering with one of the conservative friends who is still a friend. A few people were carrying nooses. If you know anything about African American history in the U.S., you know the significance behind that. The media reported it, but they didn't give it that much press. But I got to see it firsthand.

It's made me wonder what the next president, and the president after that will be like. It doesn't seem like electoral politics is any good at attracting really good people...other than that (and all the superlative hyperbole) it's same stuff, different day -

Like most people --not at all. Which is why people should quit expending so much time and energy on the issue. There are more important things in life.

Excellence! Exactly.

@Puck: yes, same here and everyone I talk to says the same thing. consumer confidence has risen enormously now that people actually have real hope after 8 years of nothing but disappointment. Jobs coming back, jobs that were leaving no longer on the way out the door, the future looks bright. No wonder the left is unhinged.
