Which Is Your Favorite Gun?
Idaho, a state that gun-safety proponents say has some of the weakest firearm laws in the country, is asking voters one question about guns this fall:
Which is your favorite?
To celebrate America’s 250th birthday, and perhaps give conservatives one more reason to vote, Idaho lawmakers want to establish an official state firearm. So they’ve put a nonbinding question on the November ballot, asking voters to choose among six weapons, including a frontier-era revolver and the rifle carried by American soldiers during World War II.
The Legislature plans to make the final decision next year, and that might not be easy for lawmakers passionate about their weaponry, or at least talking about it.
“It’s like picking your favorite child,” Sen. Mark Harris, a Republican from Soda Springs, Idaho, said during legislative debate on the ballot question.
