There are a lot more Talarico signs in this area.

@Crazywaterspring …and I am certain they are honest, to the point, in good taste, safe for all audiences, moral, true, and positive!
I cannot honestly say that I expect the same from Paxton’s campaign…

@Crazywaterspring I see tons of signs for our Democrat Congressman but they don’t say his party affiliation

No.
Though I don't live in the USA!
Our politicians will happily wade into attacking their opponents' policies and political failures but thankfully, rarely resort to personal attacks, rarely accuse them of "lying" unless they can substantiate it, and do not stoop to vulgarities.
The word "paedophile" is not a vulgarity but would not be used glibly, especially on hearsay.
House of Commons debates are sometimes very noisy but even then, very polite in a very formal manner, and members can be suspended from sittings if they go too far.
Campaing signs usually consist only of "Vote [Party name]", leaflets tend to be lists of promises and wishes but under their local candidate's name.

@ArishMell At one time excerpts from the British House of Commons was on cable TV in the US. They're very blunt in calling each other out. Now imagine an American president being quizzed at question time.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Crazywaterspring They certainly are! It does startle foreign reporters until they become accustomed to it.
What are debates and interrogations in Congress like?

@ArishMell "My distinguished colleague from Utah has tabled a motion...". Bland. Hearings always have easy questions that seem stage managed.

I think both parties need to clean up their political ads and commercials. I think all lies, suppositions, insinuations and insults should be permanently banned from political ads and commercials. You never hear one word about what their policies are and what they're going to do for their constituents!!
Wales (part of the United Kingdom) has moved toward introducing pioneering measures to penalize and remove elected officials and candidates who deliberately lie or mislead the public.
We need a law like this in the US!!!!! If we did, EVERY present government official and candidate would definitely be penalized and removed!!!!

@Rabbit420 I support legal action against those who deliberately falsify and mislead to support their political positions. But many people in the UK think politicians lie when they fail to fulfil a policy manifesto (usually because political or financial circumstances have fundamentally changed). All that will do is stop politicians from campaigning on anything of substance and resorting to personal attacks.

Just hope your kids never see your vulgar posts.
SunshineGirl · 41-45, F
Unfortunately they are simply to catering to their constituency. If voters want better, change needs to begin with them.
SumKindaMunster · 56-60, M
You reap what you sow, troll player.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
Not to defend it but negative ads are effective. As long as they remain so, it will be a thing
trollslayer · 51-55, M
@Burnley123 yes, but I think this is the first I have seen them widespread on signs.
KunsanVeteran · M
@Burnley123 …so is it okay to run ads listing things like Trump’s impeachments, felony convictions, his being an adjudicated rapist, his vindictive prosecutions?
No reason those things should be illegal because they are factually true.

@KunsanVeteran Oh, I absolutely agree.

I live in a deep red state and the signs don’t tend to reflect partisan politics per se; rather, just party affiliation. The number of signs and ads widely favor Republicans.
However, the sentiments of the voters have dramatically shifted to the left compared to 2024.
We are inundated with what I call “fundamentalist radio preachers” whose “messages” are more bigotry and slander while falsely deifying the pedophile convicted felon. The good thing is many more people are turned off by the never ending repetition of those tired lies & broken promises.

No signs. In fact, there's no sign at all that these are humans. No sign they know they're at war! No signs of intelligence.
