Big Announcement From a Leading Contender in the 2028 Presidential Race.

Putting the national interest first over his own political ambitions, California Governor Gavin Newsom told CNN’s Jake Tapper today that he would NOT seek the Democratic nomination for president in 2028 should former Vice President Kamala Harris do so.

“First of all, electorally, it’s a gift from God for everybody else. They’d enjoy the hell out of it,” Newsom said while fly fishing in Montana. “Mutual assured destruction. It services no greater good.”

“I know her base of supporters. I know her friends,” Newsom continued. “The [Venn] diagram on that is just pure crossover.”

“I wouldn’t do that to people,” he added.

Should the Democrats win the House, Newsom deserves a lot of credit by fighting back against Republican mid-decade Congressional redistricting. The two-term governor is barred from running for reelection this year due to term limits. But should Harris win the presidency in 2028, rest assured that Newsom will be strongly considered for a top cabinet post.

Sorry, i dont see the US electing a woman. What a mistake it would be for her to be nominated.

@Exhibither4 clearly as in how? Trump didn't exactly win in any landslide. Do you feel greater now than 3 years ago?

Trump took 49.81% and Harris took 48.34% of the votes, a difference of only 1.62% Trump did win a much greater percentage of the electoral college which is an outdated compromise established in the constitution as a compromise to the lower population states who were worried that a majority could unfairly hurt the minority. The authors could not foresee the long term.effects this has had resulting in those living in those states now exercise control over the majority.

@samueltyler2 You seem a little sensitive, is everything ok at home?

@samueltyler2 I believe the first female president may well be a Republican.
Kamala didn't do well last time, in my opinion it would be foolish for her to try again.

@independentone this country is not nearly ready for a woman as president. There are way too many misogynistic people voting.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@samueltyler2 I agree. Americans hate female politicians.

Harris is a losing proposition.

@MoveAlong Mark Kelly or Josh Shapiro. Not another California lefty.
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
@RedBaron We were talking about qualifications. I do believe Shapiro is qualified. I would enthusiastically vote for him if he is the nominee. Sadly a Jewish any person will have a tough hill to climb. I don't know if Kelley is more qualified but he's another one I would support wholeheartedly. Astronaut, fighter pilot and US Senator. He is the epitome of a patriotic American.

When you just take qualifications and experience into account Kamala's resume is near the top. I agree that it is important to take onto account more than just qualifications when selecting a President though.
RedBaron · M
@MoveAlong There’s no specific experience that qualifies or prepares someone to be president. It’s a job unlike any other but most like a CEO. Being a governor as GW Bush and Bill Clinton were is the closest public sector equivalent.
