Generally the most impoverished are also the least educated. No one wants a system where only the rich can vote.

If your proposed solution is to allow a select few to make all the choices, I’ll have to say that I’ll take a hard pass on something that would quickly turn into a theocratic dictatorship….

It’s this sentiment that has put the US on its current trajectory. People who believe in flat earth, lizard men, Qanon, are deciding who your national law and state policy makers are.
It’s also not to say that even complete idiots have no right to voice their opinions, express their thoughts and feelings, and have a real say in how their society functions and is governed.
