If It's Not MAGA it's Communist. Really?

There is only one political view which is patriotic and it's mine.

Everything which is not extremely right wing is communist or socialist.

Socialism is the same as, or as near as makes no difference, communism.

Someone who has a right wing view is, or is close to being, a nazi.

There is too much polarisation in the political discussion and not enough listening.

It seems that there is stream of thought that anything that is not of MAGA must be 'communist' (= very bad) or 'socialist' (=a synonym for communist). I wonder why there is no room for anything other than those two? Is disagreeing with one view of politics unpatriotic? In the UK we have Reform UK who label anyone with views at odds with theirs as 'traitors'. They see nothing wrong with this but object to 'name calling' from others.

I'm trying a poll for the first time, so thought I'd start small. 😄 Let's see how this plays out.

"Communist" is as meaningless an insult as "Woke". Many of the people it is directed against won't find the label particularly insulting 😃 More disturbing is the need to create "enemies" and disparage the right of people to hold opinions and views different to your own.

The only truly unpatriotic people are those who seek to define patriotism narrowly and exclusively and cannot understand why others may feel differently. Oh, and those who don't pay their taxes . . obviously! 😉

Someone who has right-wing views isn't necessarily fascist. However, the Right is inherently authoritarian in that the policies are all about consolidating power at the top, in the hands of as few people as possible.
So someone who has right-wing views is, at the very least, in the same realm as authoritarian ideologies, like Fascism and Monarchy.

Likewise, I'm not a Communist, but as a Socialist, I'm in the same realm as Communism and maybe even Social Democracy.

@FreddieUK And this is why simplistic labels like "Left and Right" cannot be trusted. Half of the people making comments in threads like this do not have a proper understanding of the factors contained in the terms, Communist, Socialist and Fascist. So how can their opinions be accepted?😷

Communism: A stateless and classless society where everyone shares the means of production.

Socialism: Democratic control of the means of production, specifically that of essential services such as healthcare and housing.

Fascism: Totalitarianism that seeks to force society and culture to be socially conservative.

So there, my opinions can be accepted. 😁

Regarding people who scream about everything being communist like it's the cold war. It's basically psyops and on purpose. Anything they say they don't really believe. If you engage in issues honestly, you can be broken down easily but to focus on fear, twist words, fan the flames all inspires doubt in the populace.

If you take narcissistic abuse, that's basically the same tactics.

Not that people are weak but people are flimsy with boundaries and if you know this, you can turn anything to political gain through predatory behavior.

If it isn't maga it's probably financial supported by the enemy so i see the point. If all the billions that's been invested in painting a trump as a bad guy and instead went to bettering the world we'll all be thriving not just his supporters

Both sides practice polarization - the media promotes segmentation and neatly carves up the market into dutiful groups whom they can program to and therefore sell advertising space.

@DownTheStreet Cynical, but with some truth. The 'media' though, is less homogenised these days and although the big players are mainly market driven in the States, there are a lot of voices in other spaces which could offer a more balanced view as they don't rely on big business. The UK press is mainly right wing (and owned by foreign interests) but fortunately our broadcast media (with one dishonorable exception) is impartial.
