From progressive Republican to progressive independent
that’s right, folks.
It’s crossed my mind lately that even though I still appreciate the party of Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt, it sadly doesn’t feel the same anymore. And while I can hold onto my values, I feel I have to leave the Republican label.
Don’t get me wrong—the Democrats are not without criticism either. So I would now describe myself as what you might call a progressive independent.
I still hold many of the same views I’ve always had, such as using healthcare policy to help address human trafficking and related issues. But I feel I have to drop the Republican label, because both major parties, in my view, have serious problems.
I have always seen myself as a champion of the oppressed first and foremost. So from now on, I am what you would call a progressive independent.
