On Saturday, former President Barack Obama and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani sat on the floor of a South Bronx preschool, sang "Wheels on the Bus," read a book about community to a room full of wide-eyed toddlers, and debated whose city has the better pizza.

And I need you to take a moment to really feel what this image represents.

The two most popular, most genuinely charismatic, most beloved political figures in America right now — one the son of a Kenyan immigrant, the other the son of Ugandan and Indian immigrants. Products of the beautiful, messy, powerful promise of this country. Showing up not for cameras and headlines, but to fight for free child care for the kids who need it most.

In a time when the White House is being used as a weapon against the very idea of America — dismantling democracy, wrecking the world economy, treating cruelty as a virtue — this is the counter-movement. Quiet, joyful, purposeful. Children laughing. Leaders who actually listen.

And that's exactly why the MAGAts are so filled with rage. Because Obama and Mamdani aren't anomalies; they are the future. They are proof that when Americans choose empathy over fear, eloquence over cruelty, and community over chaos, we win. And those who built their power on division know it.

We are not powerless. This is what the resistance looks like. And on Saturday, it sounded like a singalong in the Bronx!

Former President Barack Obama and current New York City Mayor Zorhan Mamdani delighted preschool students this week by taking turns reading passages from the Communist Manifesto.

"The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles," Obama recited to the kids. "The bourgeoisie cannot exist without constantly revolutionising the instruments of production, and thereby the relations of production, and with them the whole relations of society. Right, kids?"

The preschoolers looked on in admiration and slight confusion as the two politicians continued their reading, pausing only to make sure the kids were listening and understanding the importance of Marx's words.

"Listen up, kiddos, this is super important," Mamdani said to the bewildered children as he launched into a particularly meaty section on the proletariat's struggle against the bourgeoisie and class antagonisms.

Mamadani explained to the kids that they should be constantly working to rise up against their adult overlords and establish a communal system of toy ownership.

"The proletarians have nothing to lose but their chains! They have a world to win," Mamdani recited from memory as the youngsters waited eagerly for snack time. "Workers of the world, unite!"

At publishing time, Obama and Mamdani were seen attempting to organize a strike in the sandbox over the unequal distribution of juice boxes.
