About the tear gas experience - I was in basic training at Cornwallis, Nova Scotia and experienced being tear-gassed which was something I wouldn't want to do again... we were young then and could take it. It would prob kill me now :(

@SatanBurger All ot of that is just insincere jingoism, but there is something to that. I mean with the Bush era torture and rendition program the only person who faced any consequences was the man who blew the whistle and was thrown in prison for disclosing classified info.

Nobody else faced any consequences.

Which is why I have very little hope in the American system.

Historically the only times countries have been held to account for war crimes and crimes against humanity have happened after being occupied by other nations and having outsiders carry out tribunals.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow It makes sense sadly, a corrupt govt isn't going to hold itself accountable even if everyone else and around the world disagrees on the grounds of war crimes. That's why outsiders usually hold the country accountable but that's rare I suspect.

But yeah I fully don't think they'll face consequences, partly because I've never known an evil or vile person to ever atone for their crimes so it makes sense. Bad people often use justifications even while a ship is sinking, things could be burning and they'll make it someone else's fault.

@DeWayfarer Yeah that's the way a cult operates, they give themselves permission by trying to make it not their responsibility of whatever horrible thing they do. That's why they say it's propaganda and try to minimize their actions. With ICE, it's always "leader's orders" and stuff like that.

@ron122 Don't make this about everyone else, it's about you not wanting to have your priorities straight fighting for human rights. That's perfectly fine, just don't come on my post trying to virtue signal when most of the Maga people and Jan 6th rioters are in for violent crimes knowing full well you support them and what they've done to others.
