Hegseth Says Iran Strikes Aren’t a ‘Regime-Change War’
Trump’s Shifting Goals for Iran Complicate Military’s Mission. President and his allies went back and forth Sunday, between ending the threat from Tehran and regime change.
Early Sunday morning, close Trump ally Sen. Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.) said reducing the nuclear and missile threat from Iran was the intention, not regime change. The White House later reiterated that point in a statement.
But then they modified their position, because they couldn't properly address the conflict between this claim and the claims they made back in August of having annihilated Iran's nuclear capabilities.
Then the "attack on the US by Iran was imminent" narrative also emerged.
This is all reporting from the Wall Street Journal.
Also, Trump seems to be saying now that the operation is going to last up to five weeks. Hopefully he's not using calculations based on Putin's two-day limited operation.
This is the kind of whiplash you shouldn't be expecting from an operation that Trump claims is the planned meticulously, and in fact to quote him the best planned military operation in the history of the world.
There's of course the possibility this is an Epstein distraction and an attempt tp influence the midterms (it's not like Trump did not claim that the only way for Obama to win, back in the day, was to start a war with Iran).
Oh, right, Hegseth did not rule out US boots on the ground, so he's diverting more US forces/resource to the area.
