Hegseth Says Iran Strikes Aren’t a ‘Regime-Change War’

Trump’s Shifting Goals for Iran Complicate Military’s Mission. President and his allies went back and forth Sunday, between ending the threat from Tehran and regime change.

Early Sunday morning, close Trump ally Sen. Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.) said reducing the nuclear and missile threat from Iran was the intention, not regime change. The White House later reiterated that point in a statement.

But then they modified their position, because they couldn't properly address the conflict between this claim and the claims they made back in August of having annihilated Iran's nuclear capabilities.

Then the "attack on the US by Iran was imminent" narrative also emerged.

This is all reporting from the Wall Street Journal.

Also, Trump seems to be saying now that the operation is going to last up to five weeks. Hopefully he's not using calculations based on Putin's two-day limited operation.

This is the kind of whiplash you shouldn't be expecting from an operation that Trump claims is the planned meticulously, and in fact to quote him the best planned military operation in the history of the world.

There's of course the possibility this is an Epstein distraction and an attempt tp influence the midterms (it's not like Trump did not claim that the only way for Obama to win, back in the day, was to start a war with Iran).

Oh, right, Hegseth did not rule out US boots on the ground, so he's diverting more US forces/resource to the area.

A war run by our decorator in chief and his mad dog pete. The stated reasoning is of no consequence. He is supported and followed by bobble-heads.

Trump will take us all down. How does anyone not understand that donald trump is old and will be soon gone.
Tell me what a man like him does when he knows his time on earth is short and he wishes to spend it on top of the world.

@Carla In fairness to the US military. I does seen they have planned and executed their part of the job well. (If I can refer to death and destruction as a job well done). Of course, they may have underestimated the response. But thats war.. In my mind, the real problem is going to be that of a dog chasing a car.. What is it going to do with it, when it catches it? Trump and Americans generally have no idea what comes next in Iran. All we know for sure is that everything tried so far hasnt worked...😷

@whowasthatmaskedman there are certainly military strategists that work to find the best ways to do the deeds.

This action was done solely for the benefit of netanyahu and trump.
My feelings are that we will see some kind of violence here to justify this action.
How long now till vance takes the helm?

No matter...if we come back from this, it will be long past my time.

@Carla I do hope you are right. In terms of charting the course of empire, Trump is a wild card. He has done decades of damage internally and internationally. Diplomatically, economically and now ecologically. As much as I could see the trajectory of America years ago, I could not have predicted how far and how fast it would fall in so many directions at once. I believed Americans would put a stop to him years ago..😷

@Northwest "Last week the military fired a directed energy weapon, again, on a flying object near the San Antonio airport, prompting another closure."
Now we will never know what that guy from Andromeda wanted...😷

@whowasthatmaskedman phil donahue ruined us.
We've become voyeurs that take pleasure in the misery of others. We choose the team we believe can humiliate those others. Especially if those others don't look like us.
Then we "feel" like winners.
I am using we as a collective. The loudest voices seem to be reflective.
Their weakness makes all of us weak.

@Northwest aren't they trying to give dhs a bunch of dollars for a load of miltary grade weapons?
Because all of those immigrants not coming in need to be stopped by tanks and lasers.

@Carla The answer I would love to give is a thousand words long, is way beyond the scope of this post and sounds like a conspiracy theory, except that every statement is verifiable. Lets just say that since the 50s, there has been a gradual creation of an underclass by those with the money and the influence it brings. Its based around privilege and seeks to preserve itself and George Orwell had the right idea..😷
