It would appear that some people at the top are are not the very best. Which is amazing since the voters elected the very best President that the US has ever had* and he selected wonderful people who were perfect for the job. I wonder where it went wrong?
*according to that President.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Trump and his big shiny toys. Definitely compensating for something...Bottom line is that these things are a liability for defence of the nation and pointless within range of the home country because a Military base is easier to protect and cheaper to run. And I bet they arent insured..They dont have to be sunk by the way. They burn real good...😷

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow For an equal power its simple. A group of middling size nukes launched on a high trajectory falling onto the carrier group for an air burst will turn a whole carrier group into a hole in the ocean before any serious defence can engage.😷

@whowasthatmaskedman With an Oresknik Russia can now do the same with conventional warheads. They work on the same principles as MIRV ICBMs but with conventional bombs. Same result, no radiation to deal with.

Had the Pentagon not considered that Iran might counter-attack by aiming missiles at bases used by the USA in other countries in the region - and without being too fussy what else it attacks?
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow When I first heard yesterday about the missile strike on the school, the News report said the claim was from Iranian officials and had not yet been verified.
Has the identify of the country that launched it - either Israel or the USA - been identified for certain?
Oh, I know the US government has a long history of trying to control who runs which country since the end of WW2; though it's not the only one, competing first with the USSR and now with the Russian Federation, Iran and China.
A dirty, messy business all round.

@ArishMell Yes. It has been identified as the work of the IDF Air Force.
And the US is alone on this. Russia has what? 2 overseas bases? Maybe 3. China has zero last I checked.
The US has 700 to 1000 depending on how you count them. Not even remotely comparable.
Maybe the US could learn something that some of the oldest nations on earth have done the empire thing and gave up on it long ago.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Thankyou for the confirmation.
I suppose Russia doesn't really many bases outside of its own territory, given how it sprawls round so much of the Northern Hemisphere. China too, is so large it may not need them, but it might have arrangements with "allies" to use theirs.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow That's really scary partially because a large part of Bible worship is end day nihlist stuff which makes them capable of large scale genocides.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow That's like cartoon villian type stuff right there. Because every religious follower that I know of that's in that category, (I'm not talking about all religion just certain beliefs of those religions,) are very suicidal and homicidal, like the types to off their families in murder suicides or something.
When you believe in rapture and bringing about biblical type stuff and are just willing to leave everything behind, you have no incentive to make anything better on earth so long as you believe that you're the main character in an afterlife and nothing else matters beyond it.
It's very nihilistic at its core and shuns any responsibility. Those are dangerous people who can hurt a lot of others. They don't care about anything besides the concept of heaven, hell and ways to get to these concepts in their heads anyways
