Kamala Harris may yet be the Democratic nominee in 2028.

Kamala Harris is topping some new polls of Democratic White House contenders, a sign the former vice president and 2024 presidential nominee has staying power despite her defeat to President Trump.

It’s a reality that flies in the face of some of the talk after that race, in which Democrats talked about turning the page, with some calling for the party to move on from a stale playbook and to look for new leaders.

A poll from Focaldata released last week is the most recent 2028 Democratic poll. It found that 39 percent of registered voters said they would support Harris if she ran. The poll said 21 percent of those surveyed would support California Gov. Gavin Newsom, followed by 10 percent for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.).

The survey also showed that 82 percent of voters who backed Harris in 2024 held a favorable opinion of her, while 8 percent held an unfavorable view. A Tavern Research/Searchlight Institute survey out last month also showed that 90 percent of Democratic likely voters had a favorable view of the former vice president.

If Harris wins the primary and becomes the Dems candidate I'll certainly vote for her. But I worry about her electability. I doubt a women with a brown complexion can become president in present day America. Too many bigoted, frightened people.

Gavin Newsome, or Tim Waltz would be a far more electible choice.

@badminton Sadly I agree with you.

@badminton

Newsom is certainly electable and if the Dems win the House because of his redistricting initiative he will certainly win gratitude among Democratic voters.

Walz was a disappointment as Harris' running mate. He was also too polite in the debate with JD Vance. And when you are trying to make a contrast, agreeing with Vance on issues was not at all helpful.

@beckyromero Vance played him. Vance acted very civil and took Waltz off guard. It become way to agreeable. I don't think he will make that mistake again. I agree, I thought he was going to be Harris' pitbull but the debate disappointed me.
A lot of things can change in two years, in life and in politics.

"Loyalty to country, always. Loyalty to government when it deserves it." Mark Twain

"The tree of liberty, from time to time, needs to be nourished by the blood of patriots and tyrants." Thomas Jefferson

If she is on the ticket I certainly will vote for her again. But I believe America is still too bigoted to elect a woman of color.

Fortunately whoever wins the Dem nomination may get to run against JD Vance.

If she gets the nomination, I'm not voting.

In every country that lost its democracy, the Fascists were true-believers willing to risk their lives for Fascism. Nobody in MAGA is like that.

@beckyromero I think most of those people didn't believe they were risking their lives because the Republicans were still in control of the government at the time.

But ok, let's assume they were aware they could have been shot at any moment. There's still two things to consider. One is that none of those people were politicians, and they were a small minority of MAGA supporters. Within MAGA, there are few people with any amount of power who aren't nihilist. The few who actually do believe in something, like Stephen Miller and Peter Thiel, don't have the balls to risk their lives.
Secondly, a lot of those rioters aren't part of MAGA anymore. The Qanon Shaman has turned on Trump over his refusal to release the full Epstein Files. Over these past two years, the few MAGA supporters who actually believed in something have already left the cult.

Please can we not.

Harris wanted Pete, but was convinced to take Walz.

@JSul3

My first choice for her VP nominee was Admiral James Stavridis (USN, ret.)

Way too soon to speculate.

A diversity candidate whose other strength was being too low wattage to possibly outshine the big guy even as his bulb began to dim? Bad bet.🤨 If they were still looking for a woman with tenuous claims to an underdog ethnicity, they'd be better off reviving Pocahontas, who at least displayed some intelligence and had some positive ideas. 💡

Good Morning Beccy
In my opinion, if Kamala is the candidate, the republicans will win again.
It's clear that the Dems would prefer to continue everything! And that's okay with the voters. They're All good with endless wars, ecocide and genocide! American people only ever were thus!!!!
No sympathy.

Americans will never elect a woman as President in the near future.

@JimboSaturn

Do keep in mind that if you flipped a sell-out baseball stadium's attendance of Trump voters spread over Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania to Hillary in 2016 or Kamala in 2024, they would have been elected.
BohoBabe · M
@JimboSaturn Harris was extremely close to winning and probably would have if she took a stand against Israel. The Democrats knew this, but still chose to continue supporting the Gaza Genocide. Democrats rather lose to Fascists than defy Israel.
Hilarious. What are we betting on THAT happening?
Nixon did both AND other stuff. @beckyromero
