The "Save"-Act ... or how to save the ruling party from the citizens that don't agree with them.

More Snake-Oil from the GOP.

As a Belgian... I can tell you, that your ID-problem, has been solved over here years ago. From my perspective, the US is extremely backwards when it comes to this. But the same people that keep this problem going, are also the people that are now complaining about it so they can rig the elections in their favour. Funny how that works. 🤷‍♂

Don't forget why Todd Allbaugh left the GOP:

Don't forget how these guys talked about Voter-ID:

Robert Gleason - Election 2012

[media=https://youtu.be/eXF9euvxreE]

Voter ID helped the GOP beat Obama... It cut the vote for Obama by 5%. Even though there is no proof of voter fraud significant enough to get to a 5% number.

Mike Turzai - Election 2012

[media=https://youtu.be/hG7FQYKloO8]

Voter ID will help Mitt Romney to win the state of Pensylvania... as if Voter-ID is something magical, man, if we had only Voter ID instead of citizens showing up to vote for us, our lifes as politicians would be so much easier.

Glenn Grothman - Election 2016

[media=https://youtu.be/5Kdm0Qa7aYY]

Glenn Grothman, talking about the "miracle" of voter ID.

This is what Channel 3000 had to say, after Glenn Grothman slipped up:

[media=https://youtu.be/7a9toDYjRW4]

Voter-ID is a cool thing... if the governement just provides everyone with official Voter-ID. The USA made different choices, mainly because of a latent paranoia towards the Federal Governement. But now, the same people that used to be in a party against "big governement" and it's oversight... are asking for more oversight because it helps them rig the elections by sending people they don't like away from the voting boot. It's all really dumb, but somehwere there will be enough demented centrists that will say: "well that sounds reasonable", without ever giving it any deep thought.

The problem with it, even if the government issues free ID cards to everyone, is that they are gathering information on voters, and the current regime is underhanded enough to use that to figure out who is voting for whom in order to punish them.

@ItsMeMorgue The government already knows everything about you.
This is simply another means of voter suppression by adding another hurdle to jump.

For decades you took your state issued voter card to the polls and proceeded to cast your ballot.
Today, they don't give a damn about that card, it means nothing.

@ItsMeMorgue Another thing to carry in your wallet.

How about we just have people show the state ID or driver's license that they should already have?
This is what had always been done in the past.
The real problem that people don't to want to take the time to even show up at the polls.

Bold of you to assume that everyone has one. Some people can't afford it. And some people have had it revoked due to numerous traffic violations. But sure. Make them get that. In the state of Oregon, it costs $64 to get your driver's license, or $94 for a RealID. That puts it out of reach for a lot of people, especially when you factor in the difficulty some people would have producing a birth certificate in order to get it.

Oh, sure, that's it. They're just lazy. Never mind that the GOP has managed to shut down polling places in some of the most impoverished parts of America, making it a near impossibility for people who live in those areas to vote in person. In Texas, for instance, it may be necessary to drive halfway across the state to the polls. But let's blame the victims here.
Adrift · 61-69, F
@ItsMeMorgue Standard ID is $47.00.
They also have absentee or mail in ballots for those who request them.
I went on the Texas secretary of states website and looked it up.
Funny, most of the mail ins that were kicked back in our state were ballots without signatures.
Guess what party the majority of them were?

@Adrift We have solved the voter attendance problem here in Australia. Voting is compulsory. After checking in and receiving the ballot papers you can do what you want with them, but most people vote responsibly. Forced democracy XD ... The GOP would hate it.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@walabby I've advocated for it. I think we'd have a brief time when the polling places were flooded with joke votes, but after that, people would take it seriously.
