Exxon and Shell are "not going to invest single-digit billions of dollars, much less tens of billions of dollars", without physical security, legal certainty and a competitive fiscal framework.
All of which Trump has effectively destroyed by flouting international law and prioritising his personal vanity above consensus.

Ok, but what was I "not quite correct" about in my post below in bold?
Henry Ford is part of American history. American companies were great places to work for after WW2 all the way till tech came onto the scene. Now, life can be brutal.
I think I missed the " after WW2" bit.... But even then Ford and GM supplied vehicles to the German army during WW2 through their Opel subsidiary... Not to mention IBM's punch card technology which allowed the tracking of those destined for the camps

tRump said he captured Maduro because Maduro was trafficking "colossal amounts of deadly and illicit drugs" into the United States, fueling the overdose deaths of "countless Americans" (tRump's own words in quotes).
So what does Venezuelan oil tankers & oil reserves have to do with drug trafficking??
BTW, according to the US National Drug Threat Assessment, Venezuela plays a relatively limited role in bringing cocaine to the U.S. and has virtually no link to the trafficking of fentanyl — the synthetic opioid that causes most overdose deaths.

You are behind on the news cycle, Elwood. The whole world has moved on from that segment of the Trump Show.

There's no point. Venezuela's infrastructure would take years to repair, and the oil is heavy sour crude used mainly for asphalt.

Suppose they gave a war and no body came ...?
Because in 3 years all of this nonsense will be dismantled. Why would a company be coerced into investing in a 3 year plan and then lose it all?
