Does prohibition encourage curiosity?

It might be books, music or drugs.

Yes, that's why education is the better option. Neither is a cure all to keep anyone from doing things that could potentially harm themselves, but it's education that gives a person the right to make choices for themselves. Just outright banning something can lead to more harm than good, with the exception, in my opinion, being hard drugs wich can lead to addiction no matter which method is chosen to prevent their harmful effects on the body and a livable life.

Yes, it does.

Anything deemed prohibited becomes something folks want to experiment with.

I am a great example of men being prohibited in the "Norm" from wearing women's clothing and I fell in love with it.

For some people. And for some subjects.

If you ban a book, I'm going to be curious why.

If you ban drugs, there is generally evidence of the harm they cause and I won't be any more curious to try them when banned.

Other people are going to be the exact opposite. Some are going to have no curiosity for either and some are going to have it for both.

I think it does.

No, but human nature does.

We know from experience that Prohibition of alcohol (the Volstead Act) only led to increased violent crime and more dangerous forms of alcohol on the market. You will not eliminate demand for something by making it illegal.

Strange how President Trump (the man who awarded Rush Limbaugh the Presidential Medal Of Freedom) is so centrist that he wants to remove marijuana from the Schedule 1 drug list. As a Florida resident, he actually voted FOR recreational marijuana when it came up on the referendum.

There's no way I want to be anywhere near anyone who is smoking that foul substance. But if it's legal, the big corporations take over; government regulations prevent it from becoming more dangerous; America gets a new source of tax revenue and the street pushers are taken off the streets.
