Has the Trump Administration polarised American Politics so much or it has always been so?

Just curious, no offence to anyone or side taking, just general observation and curious about it

I got curious about that and looked it up. Apparently Americans have been here 5 previous times in history without significant conflict, the civil war being the 6th time and an obvious exception.
