Another job done

HikingMan · 51-55, M
I feel like you are far too optimistic about the chances of widespread dissent among the poor and rural Republican voter base.
Given everything that they already knew about the crooked nature of the man, the overt ways he's flaunted the law and the lengths he's gone through to enrich himself, all as those voters continually have changed their talking points in order to defend him and the party in all circumstances, I feel it's highly unlikely they'll cash in their hatred and bias to vote Blue in 2026.

If there's even an election, that is???
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
@Gibbon Well there are a few in the middle right but they still vote with trump.
Gibbon · 70-79, M
@MoveAlong Did it occur to you they are voting their political beliefs and adamantly against the left.
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
@Gibbon Of course.
Theyitis · 36-40, M
Everyone’s going to see their premiums skyrocket, not just those on Obamacare. The rich can afford it. The rest of us will have to try to avoid using care as much as possible, which means shorter lives.

But don’t suggest Medicare for all, that’s too extreme, too weak, and too woke. That’s part of the reason the uneducated and working class don’t vote Democrat anymore. If you want to win elections you have to defend the current broken system. Otherwise we get MAGA again.
@jackjjackson
They conveniently forget that all the 2025 elections occurred in BLUE states which means they are nothing burgers nationally.
Classic MAGA!

So the elections were meaningless, were they?

Nope.

Mississippi Democrats Break Republican Senate Supermajority. In deeply-red Mississippi, the Dems flipped enough seats in the Senate to break the long-standing Republican supermajority there.

Dems flip Wichita School Board from a 4-3 GOP majority to a 5-2 Democratic majority. Democratic candidates Amy Warren and Amy Jensen defeated Republican incumbents Hazel Stabler and Kathy Bond. Kansas is another one of those states where Democrats are rare as hen’s teeth, yet the Dems won local elections all over the place.

In the Republican stronghold of Buck’s County PA: Two of Tuesday’s school board elections were in Bucks County, Pa., which was considered “ground zero” for right-wing groups’ takeover of school boards in 2021.

A few years ago, conservatives on these boards in Pennbridge and Central Bucks districts were using their roles to pass policies targeting LGBTQ+ students and banning books. Democrats flipped control of both boards in 2023, and on Tuesday, they ousted every Republican from both of these boards, except for one. The Pennbridge school board is now 8-1, with Democratic members in control. The Central Bucks school board is 9-0.

Texas. Democrats won in Lockhart, which sits in a district so red that Democrats normally don’t even run. They had a clean sweep in Cy-Fair ISD, another deeply red area that not even Greg Abbott could save. In SD-9, another red district, there was an 8 point shift for the Democrats.

You can be fed talking points but you can't change facts, even when you call facts "fake news".

LOL😂

@jackjjackson I started caddying at a golf course when I was 14. 18 holes for a buck fifty. If I was lucky and no other caddies were available I could carry 2 bags and make the big bucks. When I was 16 I came home from the last day of school and my farther said "I found a job for you. You start Monday laying water line for the city". Pick and shovel work. I think it paid a dollar an hour. I never had so much money.
Good for you! That’s the way it was during those days. @MoveAlong
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
@jackjjackson I very begrudgingly give you a heart.
nazgul · 26-30, F
My partner is disabled and depends on government-funded healthcare. His quality of life is likely about to be reduced tenfold. I am feeling very helpless today.
@nazgul I feel for you and your partner. I wish that I could offer some alternatives but it doesn’t look particularly promising…

Democrats care about the people and many Americans are beginning to experience the shutdown in a negative fashion, so they gave in which actually shows they are the more caring, the wiser, the stronger. Sometimes losing a battle results in winning the war
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
@Charity I don't feel like the battle was lost. Dems folding was pretty much a given. It certainly brought about some needed awareness to a lot of people.
Charity · 61-69
@MoveAlong

Not losing the battle is a good way to look at it but folding and biding time.

Never has been a priority for the Republicans.

Insurance premiums has skyrocketed so high under Republicans. And without the Affordable Care act they will double and cannot be afforded.

this is a trump's way of getting rid of the Affordable Care Act, which he hates because it was initiated by former president Barack Obama.

premiums on the Affordable Care Act is just as high as other insurances, and Trump knows it.

yet he can spend 40 billion dollars on Argentina

Midlifemale · 61-69, M
@Charity Did you forget....
Insurance premiums skyrocketed BECAUSE of Abama Care....
You know, steel from the rich and give to the poor which was and still is a disaster ....thanks to Obama...who lied about everything to pass that
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
You've got the tail wagging the dog. The poor aren't stealing from the rich. It's the other way around. The wealthy are riding an economic rocket while the middle class is shrinking and the numbers of working people in poverty are increasing. The money in America is being siphoned off at the top.

Historically when the middle class starts shrinking and the masses can't make ends meet and the politicians and wealthy are thriving people turn to .... shall I say it? SOCIALISM
Charity · 61-69
@Midlifemale

Premiums and the Affordable Care Act begin to vastly increase in 2016 when Trump took office the first time and this time he's making sure the already high premiums from his first term are doubling.

Rob / steal from the rich and give to the poor HOW the rich barely pay taxes so it's definitely not from taxes oh I know the poor are going directly into the homes / bank accounts of the rich and stealing their money / wow and they're not getting busted
They conveniently forget that all the 2025 elections occurred in BLUE states which means they are nothing burgers nationally.
@jackjjackson

I say look at my comment showing that Dems were also winning in the Deepest of Deep Red states. Are you ignoring it? ;)
@wildland The Democrats majorly outperformed in all states and districts.

And I think we will be seeing a strong emphasis on the Republican plan to usurp our Social Security Benefits which is our money we paid into SS for our retirements.

Doubt it? Rick Scott (R —FL) has been trying to grab funds from SS for years.
63 million Americans remembering Trump come voting time sounds great, but memory and cognitive issues aside, where does that number come from?

It sounds high for SNAP and subsidized ACA plans? Is it both combined?
@MistyCee IIRC, I believe ACA is about 40 million with over 20 million in Red states.
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
@KunsanVeteran I could be wrong but I think that 20M may be Medicaid recipients. I didn't include them but they're not too happy either. Correct me if I'm wrong.
@MoveAlong Honestly, I am not certain. What’s more, I don’t trust any “numbers” or metrics from this misadministration of thieves and bigots…

I wish the Navy Seals were for hire.
@MoveAlong ohhh...ok comrade...whatever you say 😜

Socialists don't abolish private property or quote Marx...

MoveAlong · 70-79, M
@BizSuitStacy That phrase originated from earlier socialist Étienne Cabet and Louis Blanc of France. Just so you know for future reference.
@MoveAlong okee dokee
This graph speaks a thousand words

tRump supporters cannot seem to cite anything good that tRump has done, they love him just to be loving him.
@HoeBag They make up stuff just like he does or they just repeat his demented lies and those of his misadministration misfits.

The legitimate news media doesn’t even bother to fact check and debunk Demented Donnie’s blatant lies anymore…
@HikingMan Demented Donnie cult members love the dark! It helps them conceal their vile crimes.

The same with the masks his “ICE thugs” wear when they’re fulfilling their bullying against innocent, peaceful people and breaking up poor, struggling families and raiding churches, schools, and daycare centers…

@MoveAlong = Have you ever considered that the orange traitor could be an active agent for the Dems? What better way to drive the voters to the Dems than to demonstrate what SOBs the Repubs are?
