That's why the US invaded Iraq as well, not for alleged weapons of mass destruction which were never found, but for the oil which of course most definitely was found!

@swirlie I remember those days. They found some empty vats that may or may not have once contained chemicals used in weapons, and called it definitive evidence.

The difference between then and now is that back then when we called out the president on his BS, there wasn't an army of mindless hypnotized red hat cultists calling a snowflakes.

In all honesty, I fully understand why the US invaded Iraq for oil because contrary to American propaganda regarding US oil reserves, the US is actually out of oil in the ground.

The only oil reserves the US has right now are called "strategic oil reserves" which are used either for the US military or if there was a sudden crude oil shortage experienced in the USA... such as refineries getting shut down by computer hackers.

Where America's strategic oil reserves are located are along the coastline of Alaska which are currently drilled and capped, but are not being used as crude oil supplies.

The practice of "fracking" (using steam to extract residual traces of oil) has increased dramatically in the US over the past 3 years, which means to wring-out the shale rock surrounding oil wells to extract the last drop of oil left behind during the oil rush of the 1950's. Fracking however, is a last resort option that is only used when oil supplies are below the critical mark on the dipstick.

Right now, the USA receives 70% of it's crude oil supplies from Canada and 20% from Venezuela, plus 10% from America's own oil reserves from fracking. If that doesn't tell you why the US invaded Iraq and now is poised to do the same thing in Venezuela, then I don't know what will.

@swirlie and fracking can pollute the water table ..

Yes, for sure! Fracking is only used as a last resort but is more expensive to do than what the value of the oil is worth, which simply means that the US is desperate for crude oil.
