so as a non-american observing the situation from the outside, what is happening in the U.S. is very scary

it really appears like the U.S. is very quickly falling under the domination of a fashist state. the president acts like he is above the law, people are being kidnapped and incarcerated without due process, a militia has been created that answers only to the president and is carrying out these kidnapping without showing faces or I.D., president trying to make people believe that the level of civil unrest is so bad that it warrants using emergency insurection act with a spoksperson for the president actually stating the the president under this act had absolute power . now troops were sent from Texas to Illinois with the maire of chicago and the governor saying they must organise to protect themselves and their citizens from an illegal move from the president. sounds like civil war and a fashist take over is happening as we speak. what the hell ?

An arrest is not a kidnapping.

Prior presidents, Clinton and Obama, also removed court hearings and reduced rigor of other aspects of due process due to the number of illegals to be addressed. Legal precedent for Trump to do the same is therefore already established.

What is fascist about enforcing existing immigration laws that were broken by Biden in allowing millions to enter ? Why should the US ignore and accept millions allowed into the country illegally? Would Canada? I think not.

@BrandNewMan no due process for starters. But at least you are pointing out the obvious......both political parties are pretty much the same
@gol979 Clinton did the same thing. Why is it a problem that Trump is doing it ?

We were invaded. The laws are not intended for that and the response cant be held to it and ever hope to correct the situation. Its ludicrous to think otherwise.
@BrandNewMan Your argument is a shallow distortion of history and law. While prior administrations did streamline processes, Trump’s extreme actions, such as family separations, mass detentions, and denial of due process, crossed a dangerous line. "Enforcing immigration laws" doesn’t justify authoritarian practices that trample on civil rights. Calling it “fascist” isn’t about law enforcement but the brutal methods used, undermining democracy and human dignity.

The U.S. immigration system is broken, and simply ignoring the humanity of millions doesn’t solve the problem; it deepens the crisis. Canada’s approach, more humane, shows there’s a better way forward.

@BrandNewMan so whats wrong with clinton doing the same thing? Guarantee you wont answer that because you would then have to apply the same logic to trump
@gol979 Lol .. you lose that bet.

Clinton did the right thing .. 100% .. and that is exactly what justifies Trump doing it.

The question is .. what TAF became if the democratic partythat they now put illegal immigrants ahead of our own citizens?? Guarantee YOU dont have a sensible answer for that reality.

@BrandNewMan fair play, i stand corrected. Well, good job you support the authoritarian relay, someone has to
@gol979 You realise that Trump has massively crossed a line here. Or perhaps you don't care.

The question is how TAF did you come to that conclusion?

Also, Trump has given billions and billions to Israel for "self-defense", when that money could have been used to end homelessness, subsidise healthcare, and provide free college for millions.

But America First, right? Guarantee you won't answer that.

@wildland Lol .. you dont know me at ALL.

We gave Billions to Ukraine too .. Left Billions sitting on the ground in Afghanistan withdrawal that went right to the enemy. Dwarfs what we gave to Israel.

I do think we put too much of our resources elsewhere, but some things demand some support. Israel over Hamas? I'm choosing Israel.

What else you got?
gol979 · 46-50, M
@wildland yes of course but as brandnewman rightly points out, its both parties. The left/right march of authoritarianism
gol979 · 46-50, M
@BrandNewMan i agree and the same hypocrisy can be levelled at the red team supporters right now
@BrandNewMan You're choosing Israel over your own country. Figures.
@wildland In addition .. not over. Last time I checked, a large portion of tax dollars goes to our people. Grow up.

@wildland Way too many able to work who aren't too. Just throwing ever more money at everything is not a viable approach.

Got any realistic solutions to suggest .. or are you just another hater with nothing to offer?

@BrandNewMan The orange traitor really isn't doing anything that other Presidents haven't done.

When dealing with a dictator it's best not to argue but to simply act. The thing is that most people simply like being controlled by dictators.
