You know what? I've been keeping quiet about Gavin Newsom, because everybody thinks he's some kind of savior.

But I think I'm done keeping quiet.

Because Gavin Newsom isn't going to help the trans community. He's going to throw them under the bus. He already said so, but y'all choose to ignore that because of his funny Trump memes.

I for one am sick of choosing the lesser of two evils in this country. People have been doing that for years, and now all our options are evil.

"Big deal," I can hear you saying. "It's just trans people. They're a small part of the population to begin with." But who will be next?

Historical Activism: Newsom began officiating same-sex marriages in San Francisco in 2004, establishing himself as an early pioneer for LGBTQ+ rights.

Legislative Support: He has signed several bills into law in California, including measures to improve LGBTQ+ tracking of violent deaths, mandate cultural competency training for school staff, and ensure foster care placement supports a child's gender identity.

Publicly Celebratory: Newsom has issued proclamations for LGBTQ+ Pride Month and Transgender Day of Remembrance, affirming California's commitment to the community and their rights.

Community Engagement: He has shown support by attending Pride events and has worked with the LGBTQ Caucus to advance safety initiatives.

So, why would you think he's going to throw the LGBTQ "community" under the bus?

Is it because he said transgender girls' participation in female sports is unfair? Here's a fact you should chew on: it is unfair and no one has been able to propose a solution that everyone, including the LGBQ "community" can agree on. You may want to revisit history, specifically when East German women participated in the Olympics.

@Northwest I'm going to make a good faith assumption here. Even though part of me is screaming that it is, I'm going to assume that calling it LGBQ without the T was not intentional on your part. But yes, that is the reason. A lot of trans people are very scared right now because the Trump administration is working very hard to erase their rights. And for him to be saying anything right now that is disparaging about trans people, well, that just don't sit right.

And now here you are, saying the same thing, and comparing these women to East German competitors, knowing damn well East Germany was cheating by entering athletes who were on steroids. How dare you compare that?

Which part of my comment led you to believe this is anything but intentional?

But yes, that is the reason. A lot of trans people are very scared right now

And that leads you to the conclusion that Newson is about to throw the Trans under the bus?

My post was to correct you, specifically that your issue with Newsom, is about the Trans segment, NOT the LGBQ segment.

Trans Americans rights': marriage, equality, etc. is something Newsom and sane people vehemently support, especially civil rights, marriage, and the right to identify as other than Male or Female on their identity documents (passport, drivers license, etc).

This has absolutely NOTHING to do with wanting to compete in a sport where other participants do not identify the same.

This is a very complex issue, and your tamper tantrum does not give you the right to make false accusations, especially when you know that Trump is President, thanks to the extreme left's refusal to participate in the elections process.

You're an adult, and you can choose to compete as a transexual, against a team that identifies as transsexual. This is not the same as kids who have no choice.

Until society comes up with an acceptable set of rules and alternatives, your false accusations will do absolutely nothing to advance the cause of people trapped in the wrong body.

So then you are, in fact, in favor of excluding them.

I'm not reading the rest of your little monologue.

It’s of like you understood what you read.

@Northwest I understand you intentionally said LGBQ while we were talking about the T. And you put the word community in the quotes. Would you care to explain what you were implying by doing that, so I don't simply assume?

You're trying to frame it as something other than what it is.

And you put the word community in the quotes. Would you care to explain what you were implying by doing that, so I don't simply assume?

There is no "community" to try to make it sound as if there's a community opposed to what Newsom said, when in fact there is no "community" consensus to opposed Newsom. His opinion is shared by 67% of Democrats who oppose transgender female athletes competing in women's sports.

I'm going to guess that this figure is going to he higher when you limit it to parents with elementary/high school age kids.

The point is that a super majority of left of center people have concerns that need to be addressed, instead of attempting to bulldoze over it and make accusations.

Am I? You haven't talked to very many friends people, I think.

Well, then I guess I should just be fine with us turning our backs on transgender athletes. /s

You're not that good at the passive aggressive stuff, but you're trying. Trying to frame it as a Newsom throwing Trans under the bus is still not working.

@Northwest Go talk to some actual transgender people about how they feel on the subject. I'm not authorized to speak for them, but you desperately need an education.

I've given you more than one hint, that they subject the Governor is discussing (and I support), is that he's nervous about teenage transgender male-to-female, participating in sports against teenage females.

So, why don't you, the guy who's 46-50 male, start by comprehending the issue.

I've had plenty of conversations about it, as part of my daughter's soccer team. Do you have a son or daughter and you needed to deal with the situation? You should learn, it sounds as if you can use the education.
