You know who isn't getting paid right now? ICE

And many of them are on government travel using government travel credit cards that will likely max out and go delinquent unpaid in less than a month.

Who would love to see them walking off the job homeless and stranded in cities they've been temporarily assigned to, as they hitchhike home. When all this happens, Trump isn't gonna give a dam about them.

Interesting thought, but Trump does reward loyalty someimes, with pardons, or with others people's money, e.g., the Ashley Babbit settlement on the tax player's dime.

It's still an inconvenience and a cash flow problem, but there's no shortage of businesses and individuals for him to file frivolous lawsuits against and then "settle" to pay off his loyalist thugs with extorted funds.

Granted, like most of Trump's schemes, most people will end up getting screwed over, but that's true of his entire Presidency as well.
@MistyCee How many thousand pardons were issued by Biden in the last months of his "Presidency" ? How many to political allies and his own family .. retroactive to the statute of limitations? Most of signed by autopen by his staffers as he was too incapacitated to carry out the duties of the office.

There is hypocrisy .. then there are posts like this that take it to new levels.
@BrandNewMan Do you really think two wrongs make a right?

Do you think the last guy in a line of cars driving at 80 mph in a school zone shouldn't get a ticket because the cars ahead of him got away?

Does it matter if the cop's girlfriend was in one of those cars, even?
@MistyCee I'm not gonna be lectured by someone who only cares about right/wrong when they can use it to make a point and ignores it when it is inconvenient to their agenda.

Our parties both do too much they shouldn't and too little they should. Our govt is pretty dysfunctional .. but at the moment I'll take what the right is giving, over all, hand over fist over the trainwreck the left has become.
@BrandNewMan That's fair enough.

Although I've got no alternative at the moment, I still feel entitled to criticize the current administration, and that feeling is even stronger when the administration is actively "going after" critics.

FWIW, I don't much like pardons to begin with no matter who's doing them, what process they use.
@MistyCee Agree re the pardons .. there needs to be some controls in place there.

Lol .. of course you feel entitled to criticize.. the whole of the left does despite not having an issue with it all during the cancelling of people on the right for various covid, lgbtqawtf, blm perspectives contrary to the woke views.

None of it is new, none of is one sided. What is truly different ? The Right's response to Charlie Kirk's killing. Prayer vigils, rally's for the cause .. vs killings, riots, destroying govt property, assaulting police and ICE, etc over G Floyd, ICE deporting some of the 10+MM illegals. etc.

That difference speaks to far more fundamental differences than the political bickering b.s.
@BrandNewMan What exactly in that middle paragraph speaks to "far more fundamental differences"?

I'm not being intentionally (at least not that) obtuse, but I'm not quite sure what your point is.

Are you going for the left was violent while the right is mostly peaceful, religious with respect to Kirk's murder, and does this somehow justify Trump's "war on the radical left" and the "enemy within?"
@MistyCee Lol .. you absolutely get it, but claim not to?

What about Trump's "war on the left" is any different than their war on him going back to 2015-16 right on through to this very afternoon? You see there is that hypocritical bit coming out where you want to ignore 10 yrs of legal fare meant to hinder his candidacies, spew made up b.s. about fascism, Nazis, modern day Hitler .. even extending it to conservatives in general .. and act surprised he's dishing it back? The whole thing with the 1/2 billion dollar fine that got set aside as illegally punitive?

Really? I'm surprised it has been this restrained.

Just stop .. I don"t buy your holier than thou/Trump bull crap. The left started that war .. and you are absolutely losing it right now.
@BrandNewMan

First, let me note that I "lost it" with Trump long before now, at least as far back as his first Republican debate, if not even further back when as a private citizen he was taking it ads, defrauding people and using bankruptcy, frivolous litigation and other Roy Cohen type stuff.

Second, as to your point that it could be worse, i.e., that Trump has been somewhat restrained, I'll confess that earlier today I almost posted something similar.

I'm not surprised he's "dishing it back," even though I'm appalled and horrified about how he's doing it and at what the costs and consequences might be.

The thing is Trump isn't really a true modern day Hitler, imo, any more then he's a true conservative.

IMHO, Conway (a lifetime Republican until Trump like so many) nailed Trump as a Malignant Narcissist with sociopathic tendencies. Of course, that really just categorizes the biggest problem I have with Trump.

He doesnt care about anyone or anything but himself. He speaks, mostly from his gut or the reptilian part of his brain, solely with regard to how what he says will benefit him.

There's no concerns about dishonesty, long term or even short term consequences for others, no respect for institutions, ideologies, norms, etc.

Remember his embrace of the LBGT community? That's the same kind of BS as tearing down Obamacare without any thought or intention of replacing it with something "better."

I get how speaking from his lower digestive tract is appealing, and I get the appeal of throwing a huge monkey wrench into the system and draining a nasty swamp feels good.

But he's got no intention, much less the expertise or capability to turn it into something better. He's just interested in profiting from draining it, making room for his cronies and those who will do him favors and give him money.

There's reasons people "hate" Trump and why legitimate banks and investors stopped doing business with him, why the NFL wouldn't touch him, and why he could never go public with anything and report to a Board of Directors.

I know, he says he's a conservative now, and that anyone who opposes him is a RINO, communist, leftist radical, etc, but he's not running his con on the "other." They don't buy it. His suckers are those who think they'll get "a piece of his action" because he says they're "special people" and only he can save them.
@MistyCee .. Lol .. never said there arent some valid issues with Trump. There are with every politician. Yet .. the Dems could not field a candidate to beat him. He's in the office and you are not going to change that short of what was attempted already. Killing him to do so is more morally reprehensible than any issue with him.

I saw lots of issues w Obama and then Biden .. wanted the best for the county under them through out. Never wanted to see the country suffer to thwart them. Dems cant say the same and you are proving that with each response. As are things like Dems shutting down the govt over the huge additional spending they are prioritizing.
@BrandNewMan I'm proving what?

Are you saying I'm approving of the Democrat's approach to the shutdown?

Surely you're not accusing me of wanting to hurt the country?

I may have a different idea about what's best for it, but the whole zero sum us vs them thing is pretty deplorable in my view, regardless of whether I'm an us or them according to whoever's playing that game.

So is ad hominem stuff, tbh. I'm not saying I dont ever engage in it, but I try not to, and definitely don't want to play that game.
