Weakling Posters the blockers...

Its one thing to have a conversation about your own country with people that actually live here and participate in the system. But its another thing when people from other countries act like they matter or have some say in what goes on in our country. Then only have negative or disparaging things to say....not to debate or to come to some understanding but to be that "disease of modern social media" that will never solve anything or get anyone anywhere! (And thats their objective)

The internet is a pesky sort of invention. It allows people with different views and from different parts of the world to speak to each other and have conversations. Of course abuse and ignorant comments are annoying, but they can be ignored.

I have learned from your comments that you assume that this site is in some way only open to one nation's citizens. 'They' covers everyone else.

people from other countries act like they matter

That's a sad attitude. I want to hear different views and engage with those who ideas I find difficult to accept. I want them to explain and perhaps listen (as you say you want) so we can have a dialogue. It's a shame you impute to all of 'them' the desire to not debate but cause trouble.

@FreddieUK I believe what Vicki was saying, is some people whine and complain about the workings of other countries like they are "in the know" and have a stake in the country. I agree with her. She does not have a sad attitude. That happens ALL THE TIME here. I enjoy dialog as well, but when it begins with a disparaging comment of something they have little to no frame of reference, it's ridiculous.

Example, I have been hearing all sorts of negatives about Keir Starmer. I have not made a single comment because I have zero frame of reference what it's like to live in the UK. If only others from the UK would refrain from acting as if they're "experts" on US life and policy it would promote far more constructive dialog.

@carpediem I am not an expert in anything and now and again I have received a helpful insight from those responding to my comments pointing out details of how governance works in the US. I see different points of view from around the world and read posts from the US from varying standpoints which invite a response. Sometimes I just get back the equivalent of a sneer and sometimes I get a thoughtful response, which I may still disagree with but I have been made the better for in being allowed an insight into someone else's world.

@FreddieUK Disagreement is not the issue. In every country you'll find people who live there have differing views on how things should be managed. In the US, the divide between right and left creates a tribal mentality. Each side points fingers at the other. I have no clue if it's like that anywhere else, but I suspect it is. I do know the media is entirely slanted to a narrative and that is true in most countries I have visited. I'm not a world traveler by any means, but I've been in dozens of countries on both business and pleasure.

Nevertheless, the original poster has a legitimate point to make and I agree with her.
