It's more complicated than what any network news will admit. You see we have conservatives that will not recognize those that were legitimately elected Democrats recently.

Conservatives are the ones holding this up multiple ways.

By not swearing in democrates they keep the majority in the conservatives favor. While not compromising keeps in the cuts to the middle income and poor.

To top this off the conservatives have called a recess. So absolutely nothing can be done untill they all get back.

Plus they can blame the Democrats for the holdup. The media just won't point this out. It's control by the president's FCC.

@DeWayfarer

Madeleine Dean, the Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives for Pennsylvania's 4th congressional district, was on MSNBC yesterday and called out House Speaker Mike Johnson for sending his pals home, while all Democrats remained, seeking to reach an agreement to avoid the shutdown.

It will be curious to see who the population blames for this shutdown, but Dean made it clear that her constituents demanded that healthcare be fully funded.

@JSul3 Indeed. It will as well be interesting just how much the media will present this, as well as for how long, with a 5 minute attention span in effect.

My neighbor's say they don't even watch the news anymore. 😔

@DeWayfarer Yes.

When you send your pals home early, that tells me you are not interested in avoiding a shutdown.
It proves that you refuse to negotiate in good faith....and worse, you fully support a shutdown.

This isn't on the Democrats.
Funding healthcare is what the people want. It's been proven time and time again that the Republicans can't be trusted.

There was a high likelyhood of this happening Gus... It's what half of the country voted for.
Chances are that half will deny that this is the case, but that's largely because they believe that they can vote for a party that has radical stances and is unable to compromise without consequences. Even when that party has to function within a system that is based on compromise. 🤷‍♂

And, the movement they are voting for, has no ability to self reflect. Nothing they do has consequences, if there are consequences there is always a scapegoat to blame. But reality keeps pushing back.

Fuck around, and find out. 🤷‍♂
