If she were a strong candidate - she could have led the calls for Biden to step aside. It’s not her responsibility alone, but she alone had the position and rank to persuade others.
So way back in early 2023, she could have approached Biden in a constructive and confident way:
“Joe - you have done a terrific job as president, but I and those around you can see the toll it is taking your physical and mental health and the public will see this, too. Nobody is forcing you to step down, but for the good of the country, I am asking you to step aside. I know I can win this thing, and you know it too. The sooner we move forward, the better this will be. Trust me on this.”
And then be persistent about it.
Using a football analogy, I see the real problem is that the democrats (and Harris) waited for Biden to throw three picks before putting in the backup, rather than having confidence in their new QB to start a new season. Harris might have been perfectly fine - but the “backup QB” label never left her.

@22Michelle Why would anyone vote for someone they think is appalling?
You may think he is, but those who voted for him, had a reason to do so. One of these reasons, is that they don't like the other candidate.

@Northwest His record is easily viewable and a serial bankrupt, liar, a man banned from running charities due to fraud, serial sex offender, etc, etc, is really not someone anyone should be voting for.
Not liking a candidate is fine, but really the decision on who to vote for should, sadly, be about whosthe least flawed / appalling.

@22Michelle those folks bothered me. They stay home or vote 3rd part as a protest vote. Can’t stomach Trump, but in effect voted for him with a no-vote.

Then she had no business running for President of the United States of America.
The most powerful position in the world. "Gee it was someone's else's fault" and "what could I have done", are not acceptable responses to her colossal failure to put the issue to the people, as she should have done.
It is NOT Clooney's job to demand that something happens.
It's really ridiculous to try to label it as "scapegoating", instead of demanding accountability.

There was no other candidate in the position to even come close.
THAT is the position of the Vice President in such a case.
As you can see there are many that will disagree with you on this. I could name a few others besides those on this post.
I would even like the one person's comments and replies, that has blocked me on this post, if I could.

She was in a tough spot as his VP, I think. Nancy did what she needed to do after Jill Biden and Ron Klain blew it. I blame Jill most of all.

@Bumbles
She was running for the MOST important office in the world, and for the most important position in the entire world.
A failure to disclose what she knew, AND demand a change of course, is not something that can be dismissed as "gee, what could she do" against the establishment.
If she CANNOT stand up to the establishment AND put the issue to the American people, then she IS the reason the Democrat ticket failed.

@Northwest I think having an open rebellion months before Biden did drop out would also have been politically a very dangerous move to make. If you recall, it wasn't until the debate that the prevailing opinion shifted that Biden needed to drop out. Before that most of the Dems (Ezra Klein being the notable exception) were in denial.
Further, support quickly rallied around her which probably would not have been the case had she "gone after the king."
In retrospect, a brief open primary would have been a better choice, but that is only because of hindsight. Ezra Klein was also calling for a brief primacy of sorts.
Now, would it have been awesome to watch if Kamala had gone for broke say, a year out? Sure, but I don't think that was at all realistic.

The entire Republican party had a responsibility to say no to Trump. They didn't and history will judge them for it.

@Northwest When I used the word "pass" I was referring to the media, the establishment, and the voters. The right vote right regardless, the left hold their representatives to higher standards. Harris wasn't the perfect candidate so many sat the election out. We see the same here in the UK
Northwest · M
@22Michelle MAGAs always complain about media bias, when in fact right wing media controls media. So, don't be surprised when Fox gives a pass to Trump.

@RoguishEyes Please! Don't insult. @Northwest is no MAGA. Even I would defend that.

She didn't have any responsibility to argue against Biden.
Just because she says this, doesn't make it so and it doesn't mean I have to agree with it. At all.
Everyone wants to blame her ...but she is just one person in a long line of Democrats who went along with it and encouraged it ...they could have done any number of things. She isn't the lone wolf who "didn't argue against it"... none of them did.
I wont participate in making her the scapegoat.
