Judging the "left" party by their dramatic and scathing attacks on Trump I would expect a coherent opposition to his politics and even proposals for massive changes coming from the Democrats. Obviously not, they're only ever and always perfectly in agreement with conservative politics and offering nothing. Let's blame the Dems for Trump.
@MoveAlong sounds like a bipartisan plan from Washington! You win. They'll elect you some more with that plan. Good riddance to the evil. The fabulous death rates are domestic policy for a nicer tomorrow for everyone else!!!
@Bumbles with millions of siciliani, no, they understand that Shapiro is Italian for "Jewish barber" Or, "Jewish Italian. Bibi Netanyahu is really from Pennsylvania, and they'd instantly get him, too.
I never thought the Bush administration was fascist - althought there were Americans who did (some on SW, too). He was conservative, sure. But I wouldn't even classify him as "right wing." More of a moderate, though less so than his father.
Activist against the Iraq War would try to put the "Hitler" label on him and Vice President Dick Cheney. Far left opponents even did so after the disputed Florida recount in 2000.
But Trump is not even your "normal" right wing Republican. Sending the National Guard into cities for police duties, having masked ICE agents pick up people on the streets and "disappear" them for weeks, threatening to without disaster aid unless one bends the knee, suggesting that American CITIZENS should be sent to foreign prisons, and on and on and on. That's not normal, for any president we've had.
@hippyjoe1955 I cannot think of an administration in recent American history that has over-reached and threatened to interfere more in ordinary peoples' lives than Trump's.
@AthrillatheHunt If there's no evidence of mass cheating by the Republicans, I'll assume the midterms were free and fair. It's kind of grey because the Republicans always cheat. One of the reasons Trump won is because after he lost in 2020, Republicans used the Big Lie to enact a bunch of new voter-restriction laws. So we're at a point now where we have to consider the elections legit, even while knowing Republicans rigged the system. Pretty grim. But idk, if there's no reports of blatant cheating, like dumping out ballots, stopping black people from voting, I guess that's enough.
