Hijack the algorithms. A lot of people on the left and right are being radicalized online by getting personally curated content in their feed meant to appeal to their biases. They're seeing over and over again selectively edited, blatantly one-sided, overly simplistic, self-gratifying content devoid of nuance or critical thinking. Our attention spans are rapidly shrinking and politics is being reduced to quick soundbites and viral video clips.
We're deliberately not being shown lengthy conversations and healthy dialogue because these social media companies get their money from clicks and views. You can squeeze a lot more views by making content shorter and the proven strategy for retaining viewers is negative engagement in the form of flame wars.
We also need to realize that most of the people having opinions on topics are largely uneducated, unqualified, and inexperienced in the topics they're talking about. We need some way of having it called out by people who do have the knowledge to engage in these conversations
