I read a moms story not too long ago about taking her young daughter to the doc.
Girl: my stomach hurts so bad all the time
Doc: Well, when girls reach your age they get so worried about wether or not the right boy likes her that it makes her tummy upset. It will go away. Just give it time.
A month later: girl was diagnosed with stomach cancer.

@LordBarbossa stomach cancer? How old was the girl? The likelihood is slim as to children developing cancer of the stomach.

@samueltyler2 I don't remember the story exactly. Just the gist of it.
Wether or not the story is true: it accuratly describes how girls and women are treated by medic professionals.

@LordBarbossa sorry to say, you are stereotyping and i take offense at it. I am a retired physician and neither I nor any of my colleagues, would ever "blow away" a patient regardless of sex, race or ethnicity. My daughter is a pediatric oncologist, I was a pediatrician, later in life did preventive medicine. I did see some malpractice in the terms of missed important diagnosed, but the story you relate is very unlikely.

@samueltyler2 if that's the case, how about instead of defending yourself you stand up for womens health and create awareness of the lack of knowledge regarding womens health?
I'm not targeting you in particular. I'm simply trying to point out the faults in health care.

@LordBarbossa why do you not think that I have? By the way, I have also championed the rights of the trans community! I ran an STD/HIV telephone hotline, that then morphed into all dealing with all of the legal issues involved and STDs as well.
In the US we are in really big trouble, women's rights are just a portion, although statistically they represent probably half of the population.

@samueltyler2 I appologise for assuming. If you have, and still are, that's awesome and I thank you.
I thank you for your efforts and hope you continue fighting for equal rights for everyone.

@LordBarbossa i accept your apology. I recognize the problem, i taught at a medical school and tried hard to make students understand how important it is to have empathy.
