Sounds good in theory, because the current First-Past-The-Post system works to shut out smaller parties and the UK electorate is extremely diverse politically. The extreme-right Reform, for example picked up millions of votes nationwide (mainly because of the Tory collapse) and only got 5 MPs. Under PR they would have got 100. It doesn't work for them. So of course, they, and other parties, are in favour of changing the voting system while in opposition.
I'd like to believe them. However, should they break through and gain power in 2029, I daresay they'll change their tune soon enough and decide FTTP is the "fairest" system we have.
