Al Fashar has maybe a third of the population of Gaza. Also, Israel is being funded and supported by Western governments and has been backed by Western politicians. Including in my own country.

All the denial in the West is just funny to me. There is little denial in the Israeli media. They're very honest about what they're doing and what they intend to do.

There is no Sudan lobby receiving billions of dollars in military aid to carry out their genocide. There is no one defending the Sudanese government the way helenS defends Israel. This whataboutism fails.

I get that on American cable news, they didn't even mention deaths in Gaza until months after Israel started completely leveling the place and its all tightly contained but the sheer overwhelming evidence that this is the greatest crime of our lifetimes, which we are -paying for-, beggars belief.

Like I can't reconcile people going "Yeah but Hamas have hostages and its a war, war has casualties" with reality it's insane.

@CountScrofula The BBC has for the longest time practiced an uncritical both sidesism and taken much of what Israel has said as credible. It's led to internal conflict within the organisation that got leaked to Owen Jones.

Recently, a dam has broken for no other reason than the last vestiges of plausible deniability have collapsed. The aerial shots if Gaza and the aid agencies screaming about the humanitarian crisis have broken through and normie opinion is now admitting that - yes -Israel is actually committing a genocide. They still choose not to report some things out, obviously.

The Guardian is the same because they've belatedly realised that the liberal Zionist position (always a contradiction) is now completely untenable. Obviously they want to blame it all on Netanyahu (the Israeli trump) which completely misses the point.

I assume it's similar in Canada. I've read and seen here that mainstream American liberal voters have moved hard against Israel and that is welcome. I just feel it's too little too late.

I just watched a video from NBC which is the gold standard for tepid liberalism and it was pretty fascinating in how carefully it toes a line of telling the truth but not giving viewers enough context to reach the obvious conclusion that this is a deliberate pattern.

I pointed out to one in particular that not even 1940s saturation bombing of Germany killed as many civilians or even destroyed as many buildings.

There was literally more buildings standing in Dresden than in Gaza.
