They didn't even HAVE a primary in 2024. They pressured Biden to resign, then shoehorned in Harris. How is this democracy?

Trump faced off against Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, John Kasic, and Ted Cruz. He defeated them all. He faced a hostile and ridiculous press in 2016 and still beat the establishment candidate. How is that NOT democracy?

He spent 4 years running again for President, overcame multiple bullshit "lawfare" attempts to get him to quit running. He survived an assassination attempt. How has he not earned his second election? Again, democracy prevailed, despite all attempts from the Democrats to prevent it.

You claim there is no deviation from Trump ideology, what about left wing Democrat ideology? Anybody can be any gender for any reason at any time. Only White people can be racist. We can't close the borders, we need more laws and more funding. Biden is NOT senile, that's a dirty right wing "cheap fake". These things are ridiculous and they are also dogma for the DNC. Go against them at your peril. Risk being doxxed and cancelled if you step out of the ideological lane.

You aren't dealing in facts, they are talking points of the DNC promoted by their lackies in the media.

2016, there was a primary process. Clinton won (sadly)

2020, there was a primary process. Biden won (sadly)

2024 there was no time for a primary, not with three months to go. Harris was the VP; it is the job of the VP to step up in these instances. There was no evidence of "suppressing dissent". There was no evidence of a clamour among the grassroots for a primary. All the other potential candidates quickly stood aside and tossed their hat in with Harris. I'm not denying that the whole thing was a colossal fuck-up from the Dem point of view though.

The fact is, though, in the GOP, Trump is actively preventing dissent by purging anyone who doesn’t completely align with him, and when you have a situation where Trump can essentially force anyone in the GOP who disagrees with him into political exile (like Cheney), that's not democracy, that's control. Sure, the Democrats also have their issues with ideological purity, but no one who challenged Biden within the party got publicly humiliated or pushed out the way Trump does to his critics.

And you’re also ignoring the fact that the Democratic Party, despite being more consolidated, still has room for internal debates—look at the differences between AOC and Joe Manchin (has he retired?) That kind of ideological diversity has disappeared from the GOP now. They are lock-stock with Trump. No dissent. No deviation. No exceptions.

And that's not healthy.

Trump is not silencing dissent. Plenty of people are speaking out against him. I mean, come on, everyday the news has some mouthpiece saying how Trump is a disaster etc etc etc

Trump had to face Nikki Haley, and Ron DeSantis in the Republican primary. He won handily

Lynn Cheney didn't just get exiled by Trump. The voters of Wyoming sent her packing in the second highest defeat for a sitting Congressperson in US history. She was sent packing by the voters...ya know democracy...

She turned on Trump and suffered the consequences.

Do you even care? She's the privileged daughter of a malevolent neocon, she got what she deserved.

How about how the DNC treated Robert Kennedy Jr? They literally sued him to prevent him from running. How is that democracy? How is that open and democratic? How is that allowing dissent? Allowing deviations?
