Whatever.
She made a speech criticizing Republicans.
She'll still support and vote with Trump.

@SumKindaMunster Oh, well of course she will support and vote with Trump. Despite @Reason10's assertions to the contrary, dissent is not tolerated in the current Republican Party. Just ask Liz Cheney.
All the best.
All the best.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@wishforthenight Liz Cheney broke with Trump on Afghanistan. She vehemently opposed his withdrawal and turned on him when it was apparent he was moving forward with the withdrawal.
She then allied herself with the Democrats to try and smear Trump for his actions on January 6th.
She failed, and now is paying the political price.
Do you really care about Liz Cheney? Trust me, she will be fine.

@SumKindaMunster I'm ambivalent as to Liz Cheney, but, as you have just confirmed, dissent is not tolerated in Trump's Republican Party. That is not healthy.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@wishforthenight Uh huh. And the Democrats do??? Tolerate dissent in their party?
wishforthenight · 36-40
@SumKindaMunster Yes, to a much greater extent than Republicans. Yes, Democrats do have their internal systems of control, but they allow much more open, internal debate. Republicans, on the other hand, do not tolerate deviation from the Trumpian ideology. And that is a fact.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@wishforthenight Nah bro. The 2016 and 2020 primaries were rigged in favor of the establishment candidates, Clinton and Biden respectively.
They didn't even HAVE a primary in 2024. They pressured Biden to resign, then shoehorned in Harris. How is this democracy?
Trump faced off against Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, John Kasic, and Ted Cruz. He defeated them all. He faced a hostile and ridiculous press in 2016 and still beat the establishment candidate. How is that NOT democracy?
He spent 4 years running again for President, overcame multiple bullshit "lawfare" attempts to get him to quit running. He survived an assassination attempt. How has he not earned his second election? Again, democracy prevailed, despite all attempts from the Democrats to prevent it.
You claim there is no deviation from Trump ideology, what about left wing Democrat ideology? Anybody can be any gender for any reason at any time. Only White people can be racist. We can't close the borders, we need more laws and more funding. Biden is NOT senile, that's a dirty right wing "cheap fake". These things are ridiculous and they are also dogma for the DNC. Go against them at your peril. Risk being doxxed and cancelled if you step out of the ideological lane.
You aren't dealing in facts, they are talking points of the DNC promoted by their lackies in the media.

@SumKindaMunster OK dude, you're deliberately muddying the waters with epic bouts of whataboutism.
But OK.
2016, there was a primary process. Clinton won (sadly)
2020, there was a primary process. Biden won (sadly)
2024 there was no time for a primary, not with three months to go. Harris was the VP; it is the job of the VP to step up in these instances. There was no evidence of "suppressing dissent". There was no evidence of a clamour among the grassroots for a primary. All the other potential candidates quickly stood aside and tossed their hat in with Harris. I'm not denying that the whole thing was a colossal fuck-up from the Dem point of view though.
The fact is, though, in the GOP, Trump is actively preventing dissent by purging anyone who doesn’t completely align with him, and when you have a situation where Trump can essentially force anyone in the GOP who disagrees with him into political exile (like Cheney), that's not democracy, that's control. Sure, the Democrats also have their issues with ideological purity, but no one who challenged Biden within the party got publicly humiliated or pushed out the way Trump does to his critics.
And you’re also ignoring the fact that the Democratic Party, despite being more consolidated, still has room for internal debates—look at the differences between AOC and Joe Manchin (has he retired?) That kind of ideological diversity has disappeared from the GOP now. They are lock-stock with Trump. No dissent. No deviation. No exceptions.
And that's not healthy.

@wishforthenight I'm doing nothing of the sort. I'm explaining to you why Trump supporters don't trust the system or listen to the DNC and their media mouthpieces.
Trump is not silencing dissent. Plenty of people are speaking out against him. I mean, come on, everyday the news has some mouthpiece saying how Trump is a disaster etc etc etc
Trump had to face Nikki Haley, and Ron DeSantis in the Republican primary. He won handily
Lynn Cheney didn't just get exiled by Trump. The voters of Wyoming sent her packing in the second highest defeat for a sitting Congressperson in US history. She was sent packing by the voters...ya know democracy...
She turned on Trump and suffered the consequences.
Do you even care? She's the privileged daughter of a malevolent neocon, she got what she deserved.
How about how the DNC treated Robert Kennedy Jr? They literally sued him to prevent him from running. How is that democracy? How is that open and democratic? How is that allowing dissent? Allowing deviations?

@SumKindaMunster Oh dear. You're dodging again. I thought you were intelligent and reasoned, but now your responses are degenerating into a mixture of gaslighting, misdirection and emotional manipulation 🤦🏻♂.
I’m talking about internal dissent within political parties, not media coverage or public opinion.
Liz Cheney wasn’t just rejected by voters, she was stripped of GOP leadership and targeted by Trump. That’s party enforcement.
Nikki Haley and DeSantis ran against him. yes, but they quickly endorsed Trump after criticizing him. Why? Because dissent = exile.
AOC and Joe Manchin can publicly disagree and still remain Democrats. No equivalent of that exists in Trump’s GOP.
As for RFK Jr.? He chose to leave the party and run as an independent. That’s not suppression. That’s a choice.
You keep trying to change the subject to justify one-sided loyalty, but it doesn’t change the fact that Trump demands complete allegiance, and Republicans who step out of line are punished, not debated.

@wishforthenight This is a wonderful example of misdirection and strawmanning an argument.
I find it telling you need to condescend and insult me to make your "points".
This entire statement is projection:
That's what YOU are doing. I'm merely responding in kind.
I'm talking about why Trump supporters don't trust the media or the DNC. That is my point and I have provided concrete detailed examples as to why.
To respond to your points:
Nikki Haley and DeSantis ran against him. yes, but they quickly endorsed Trump after criticizing him. Why? Because dissent = exile That's a ridiculous example. It proves nothing. This is politics as usual. The same thing happens with the Democrats. See Bernie Sanders tongue bathing Clinton and Biden after they won their primaries.
AOC and Joe Manchin can publicly disagree and still remain Democrats. No equivalent of that exists in Trump’s GOP. 🤣🤣🤣 Manchin retired because he was being harassed by the Democrats for not going along with their agenda. You could not have picked a worse example to prove your point. I should have used this one...
You keep trying to change the subject to justify one-sided loyalty, but it doesn’t change the fact that Trump demands complete allegiance, and Republicans who step out of line are punished, not debated.
I don't believe that he does and you haven't proven that he or the Republicans are any worse than the Democrats here. I'm giving you examples of Democrats behaviors that are just as bad, or worse then what you accuse Trump of.

She WAS rejected by voters, by a wide margin. Feel free to look it up. Gosh, she lost her leadership position. What a horrible thing for a person who is no longer loyal and trustworthy. Again, do you really care about what happened to Lynn Cheney? She got what she deserved. SHE broke with Trump and felt the consequences of her actions. She wasn't targeted personally, it was her behavior and public statements that got her exiled.Nikki Haley and DeSantis ran against him. yes, but they quickly endorsed Trump after criticizing him. Yah ok strawman. My point was that he was SUED to prevent him from running as a Democrat. They wouldn't let him run under their banner. Why? In retrospect the obvious answer is because they didn't want to go through a primary with Joe Biden and having him expose his senility. How is that democracy? How is this any different than anything the Republicans do?You keep trying to change the subject to justify one-sided loyalty, but it doesn’t change the fact that Trump demands complete allegiance, and Republicans who step out of line are punished, not debated.

@SumKindaMunster
OK well this is where we leave it. This, as far as I'm concerned is a classic troll response when they are intellectually cornered. You're no longer debating in good faith (if you ever were); you're now in full blown defense mode, trying to flip my points back on to me and not trying to discredit the substance of what I said, but the tone.
At least you're not disputing that gaslighting, misdirection, and emotional manipulation happened, you're just projecting it back onto me. This is a lazy, circular defense “I’m not doing it you are!”
I'm not doing any of that, and we both know it. I’ve been calm, specific, and on-topic. You're the one who derailed the conversation with emotional bait (the weird stuff about whether I care about Liz Cheney), misdirection (RFK Jr.), and distortion.
I laid out a clear distinction between how dissent is handled in the two parties. Instead of engaging with that, you flooded the conversation with whataboutism, changed definitions mid-argument, and tried to make it about Liz Cheney’s family, Bernie Sanders’ endorsements, and RFK Jr.’s lawsuits none of which actually countered my point.
When dissenters in the GOP get punished and exiled, and dissenters in the Democratic Party remain within the tent, that’s a structural difference. No amount of “but what about…” changes that. Sorry.
I’ve made my case clearly and calmly. If you don’t agree, that’s fine. But I’m not here to argue in circles with someone who’s more interested in “winning” a thread than having a real conversation.
But, to be honest, the fact that you're imitating my phrasing and flailing around to reclaim the moral high ground tells us everything. The more you squirm and mirror my arguments, the clearer it is that you're out of intellectual rope.
So we'll leave it there.
Thank you for your time.

@SumKindaMunster Exactly the response I was expecting. You're not here for a genuine exchange. You're now fully in meltdown mode, defaulting to projection, sarcasm, and personal jabs.
I don't need to pretend it's you. It is you, and we/us (as in the people on this thread) can see this.
Goodbye :)
