President Putin thinks most of the rest of the world is against him - but that's hardly surprising given he is one of an unholy, loose alliance of tyrants and megalomaniacs who despise "the West" anyway on ideological grounds.
The Russian president is a threat to the USA but not very closely. His government is already attacking Western Europe physically by sabotage, arson, etc., but its largest weapon is via the Internet, as it can be aimed relatively stealthily against almost anyone, including the USA.
Vladimir Putin for his part thinks the USA and more, most of Europe a threat to him. More accutately a threat to his imperialist ambitions: he resents the loss of the Soviet empire. If he thinks any one country is against him though - apart of course from Ukraine he believes should not exist - it is not the USA but the UK.
Russia is not a threat to the USA: its president and his clique are the threat.

Russia's expansion to the Far East came at the expense of China. And don't think the Chinese have forgotten. Some Chinese nationalists have even called for the return of Vladivostok to China. Time is on China's side.
Russia's population is in such a steep decline that Vladimir Putin has to kidnap Ukrainian children and beg Russian women to have more babies.
In 1989, the Soviet Union had a population of nearly 40 million more than the United States. Today, the United States has a population of nearly 50 million more than the nations that made up the former Soviet Union. The U.S. population is about 235% more than today's Russia. In fact, Russia's population today is lower than it was in 1989.
At this rate mid mid-next century a map may simply show most of northern Asia as a land once called Russia but where the majority of people speak Chinese.

Before you answer, my dear Russian bot, allow me to remind you of a little thing called the Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances. Signed on December 5, 1994, it involved Ukraine, Russia, the United States, and the United Kingdom. In exchange for Ukraine giving up its nuclear arsenal, which it inherited from the Soviet Union, these countries pledged security assurances, including respecting Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Of course this memorandum was not a binding treaty and the BM was 'assurances' and not 'guarantees' with no mechanism in place to enforce it were it ever violated. The illegal takeover of Crimea was the first violation, and Putin was not held accountable for it.
Perhaps had Ukraine kept their nukes, Putin would not have invaded.

Russia certainly does threaten you mainstream Americans, by being Russia. @SatanBurger Not "to Russia" but apparently to somewhere near Russia... which is hardly difficult seeing as the country's Northern coast encircles about half the globe at that latitude.
Where they really are is of course secret, and even Trump might not know the boat's actual positions and patrol courses. Even most of crew of a submarine are probably not told where their own vessel is or where it is going.
No navy ever says where their submarines are; but all are continually searching for their potential enemies. Not by sonar pings either - that dead give-away of the searcher's own position and course is a fantasy by Hollywood and the more ignorant "green" campaigners, though based on World War Two destroyers using ASDIC for hunting enemy submarines.
The Russians rather dismissed Trump's claimed order because it is rather meaningless. The two navies know perfectly well they are playing cat-and-mouse with each other.
