Californians Lose Thousands of Jobs As Newsom Campaigns for President

Governor Gavin Newsom has his sights set on the White House for 2028. He’s already hitting the campaign trail, visiting key primary states like South Carolina. But there’s just one giant problem with his presidential dreams – California currently has the worst unemployment rate in the entire country.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has already started his 2028 presidential campaign — but his state has the highest unemployment rate in the United States.

As reported earlier this month, Newsom left California in the midst of over a dozen wildfires to travel to rural South Carolina, testing the waters for a presidential run in the state Democrats have promoted to the first in the list of primary contests…

California’s unemployment rate rose slightly, by 0.1 percentage point, to 5.4% in June, tying Nevada for the highest rate in the U.S., according to new federal data released Friday.

While Newsom smiles for photos in South Carolina, California workers are losing jobs. The state lost 6,100 jobs in June alone. The business and professional services sector took the biggest hit with 9,900 layoffs.

What’s even more shocking? Newsom left California during a crisis of over a dozen wildfires to test the presidential waters in South Carolina. While flames threatened homes and communities, their governor was nowhere to be found.

This isn’t just bad timing – it’s a pattern. When leadership was needed most, Newsom chose his political future over his current job responsibilities.

Even other Democratic-run states avoid California’s extreme left-wing approaches. The proof is in the numbers – California is underperforming compared to the rest of America.

As Breitbart points out, the 5.4% unemployment rate isn’t historically high, but it reveals something important. When other states are thriving under President Trump’s economy, California is falling behind.

The May jobs numbers for California were also revised downward, showing even less growth than initially reported. While some sectors like healthcare and government added jobs, most other industries in the Golden State shrank.

How can voters trust someone to run America when his own state has the worst job numbers in the country? It’s like applying to be a math teacher when you’re failing basic addition
