Now we go into trillions dollars more into debt, the middle class completely disappears and we go into developing world status rather than developed world status. I wish every developing world prosperity but that's not what is going to happen here.

We're going to lose our status and that's okay, I hear us Americans wanted to stop being consumers and go back to the 16 hour coal mining, coal lung days that we'll get our wish surely.

It's what we voted for, congrats Americans 👏 🙌 💕

Now next can be sanctions against our country when they keep killing tourists in ice custody, just like those other countries with no constitution. It's gonna be so great, we can be like most of the world it will be exciting 😃

@SatanBurger If you're wrong do you promise to go see a therapist?

ow we go into trillions dollars more into debt, the middle class completely disappears

Does it even matter how much the US is in debt? That will never get paid off anyways, only get worse.

I am curious how this bill would eliminate the middle class though. Not trying to sound smart 4ss, but genuinely asking.
Reason10 · 70-79, M
@Punches NOTHING in the bill tax wise will cause the national debt to rise.

TAXES ARE NOT GOING UP in the bill.

There was never a tax cut in the bill. Whoever told you that is a LIAR.

The bill PREVENTS A TAX INCREASE ON THE MIDDLE CLASS AND WORKERS.

ENTITLEMENT spending is what will drive up the national debt.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Rolexeo Do you not see anything wrong with what the Trump administration is doing? That's the thing about people I don't get, you never mention what issues you have that's going on, it's all agreement.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Punches Sure I can.

Regressive Tax Components

The bill permanently extends the 2017 tax cuts, which disproportionately favor the wealthy, recent estimates show the bottom 80% of earners would get far less benefit compared to the top 20%

Meanwhile, tax breaks such as those on tips and overtime are capped by income thresholds, limiting gains for lower-middle and middle-income workers

Cuts to Social Safety Nets

The legislation includes deep cuts to Medicaid and SNAP benefits, along with stricter work requirements. The CBO projects nearly 11–12million people could lose health insurance by 2034

Middle-class families sometimes rely on these programs during tough times, and scaling them back increases their vulnerability

Deficit Expansion & Interest Costs

By adding $3–4trillion to the deficit over ten years, the bill drives up federal borrowing. That can raise interest rates, which often hit mortgage and car payments, key costs for the middle class

Even small percentage increases in interest translate into huge annual costs for taxpayers

“Rise and Fall” Effect

While there are modest middle-class tax cuts (e.g., expanded child credits, tip deductions), these are overshadowed by safety net rollbacks and long-term deficits that tend to squeeze real household income

Short-term Wins: Tax relief for middle-income households, but mostly modest and partly temporary.

Long-term Risks: Cuts to health care and food support, increased interest burdens, and an overall structure that shifts wealth upward—potentially shrinking the security and upward mobility that define the middle class

@SatanBurger lol no, nice deflection tho
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Rolexeo So what are some things you disagree with?
Rolexeo · 26-30, M
@SatanBurger sure, just answer mine first
fanuc2013 · 51-55, F
@SatanBurger The bill holds any increase in the debt ceiling to 5% . That doesn't add up to the figures you suggest.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Rolexeo When you tell me to get therapy I feel like it's gaslighting because to me, any sane person would be upset at what's happening. That's why I asked you that question.

I don't even aim my posts at you but you seem to get touchy anyways, it's weird. Instead of offering your empathy, you offer coldness. I always wonder where people get that from, it's like people who support Trump just throw it all out.

But yes to answer your question, I can do therapy but there's no way we'd be labeled as a developing world so I don't see the point in taking a bet.

This doesn’t mean we're not though. Our infrastructure now is reminiscent of a lot of countries who don't have constitutions and a lot of our views are leaning towards countries very alien to our system we've had for decades. The same goes for high infant and female mortality rates, poor literacy, poor education and rise in extremism.

All of this parallels.

@Rolexeo Okay I thought you were sincere for a minute but you seem to be the regular cold person I am used to knowing. Sorry but with all that's going on, trying to dismiss it as over blown is something toxic people do. It's literally textbook and so I know this convo is moot, I did try to give you the benefit of the doubt though.
Rolexeo · 26-30, M
@SatanBurger I'm saying it's overblown cause you've done this doom and gloom routine before and nothing ever happens. I wouldn'tsay I'm a "supporter" of Trump
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Rolexeo I only report on events that happened so I fail to see how nothing ever happens if things are happening in my post and on video.

Things like a girl got dropped off at work and scooped up by masked agent not wearing a vest that said they were ice nor badge is on video. All of the kidnappings are on video.

Things like conservatives banning 300 books in TN, including the complete book of cats. I've said that was gonna happen and it did.

I fail to see how things don't happen, if it indeed happened. See this is what I mean by toxic, only toxic people gaslight, that's what you're doing.
Rolexeo · 26-30, M
@SatanBurger I mean significant. You just said the middle class will be eliminated, back to 16 hour work days and no longer be a 1st world country. Am I gaslighting for saying these are extreme claims? Trump has had less deportations than Biden btw. There's cancel culture on both sides.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F

The middle class disappearing is supported by data and Trump accelerates this, that's not a lie.

no longer be a 1st world country

Yes correct.

US is becoming a ‘developing country’ on global rankings that measure democracy, inequality:

https://theconversation.com/us-is-becoming-a-developing-country-on-global-rankings-that-measure-democracy-inequality-190486

In its global rankings, the United Nations Office of Sustainable Development dropped the U.S. to 41st worldwide, down from its previous ranking of 32nd. Under this methodology – an expansive model of 17 categories, or “goals,” many of them focused on the environment and equity – the U.S. ranks between Cuba and Bulgaria. Both are widely regarded as developing countries.

The U.S. is also now considered a “flawed democracy,” according to The Economist’s democracy index.

So while the gigantic size of the American economy counts in its scoring, so too does unequal access to the wealth it produces. When judged by accepted measures like the Gini coefficient, income inequality in the U.S. has risen markedly over the past 30 years. By the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development’s measurement, the U.S. has the biggest wealth gap among G-7 nations.

back to 16 hour work days

Yes correct. Republicans want child slave labor, even said that they could work overnights on school nights. They want back in the gilded ages, even Trump said he wanted that age back and kept comparing it.

This age only benefitted the rich and meant extreme poverty for the poor. The poor were stuck working in factories and most of their life away for daily bread. Trump wants to emulate that. So yes this is correct.

Trump also has a few things he's done to end education and higher education in science. His actions speak the obvious consequences.

Trump has had less deportations than Biden btw. There's cancel culture on both sides.

I don't know what you're talking about cancel culture, this is nonsensical. Messing with people's lives like that marine veteran father or the little girl with a brain tumor shouldn't be reduced to political buzz words. It's not for anyone's entertainment.

I'm looking at long term impacts of policies.

What do you think the actual impacts of these policies would be if not those outcomes if it's so extreme then?
Rolexeo · 26-30, M
@SatanBurger 1. Money has less value, but it doesn't change the fact that this is a hyperbolic statement.

2. Now you're moving the goalpost to developing country in regards to inequality and democracy, you didn't specify that before. Regardless I don't take such a thing seriously. What that even means is vague.

3. Did he specifically say he wants 16 hour work days back? Why are you blaming slave labor only on the right? Rich democrats favor it too.

4. Ok, why are you bringing up science like I'm a Trump apologist, obviously that's bad.

5. I was talking about book bannings when I said cancel culture.

6. You sound like a politician with these pulling on heart strings stories.

TAXES ARE NOT GOING UP in the bill.

There was never a tax cut in the bill. Whoever told you that is a LIAR.

So, if the temporary tax cut had not been renewed this would have counted as a tax rise. But now that it has been renewed, this somehow does not count as a tax cut. 🤔
Reason10 · 70-79, M
@SunshineGirl It counts as NOTHING CHANGED. Taxes neither go up nor down.

Those are the facts.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@SatanBurger
Now we go into trillions dollars more into debt,

Why do we do this, Satan? Why do we Americans keep using the Constitution to elect one bad government after another? The Constitution gave us Donald Trump.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@sree251 Yup. Now Trump is doing away with the Constitution little by little which maga seems to not care. They care if it's a Democrat though apparently
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Rolexeo
1. Money has less value, but it doesn't change the fact that this is a hyperbolic statement.

These markers are tracked by the UN and economists. The U.S. is slipping in developed world rankings by multiple indicators... wealth inequality, maternal mortality, education, etc.

A lot of our issues are only found in those places.

2. Now you're moving the goalpost to developing country in regards to inequality and democracy, you didn't specify that before. Regardless I don't take such a thing seriously. What that even means is vague.

Developing country is a classification based on things like wealth distribution, health outcomes, and infrastructure. This is what I've alway meant.

Yes good for you that you don't take it seriously. Regardless, the trajectory will continue because we don't seem to care either way. Sorry but facts.

3. Did he specifically say he wants 16 hour work days back? Why are you blaming slave labor only on the right? Rich democrats favor it too.

First off, Trump came right out and did a whole bunch of propaganda that he wanted his reign to be the next gilded age. A bunch of republicans are on board with it and said likewise.

When politicians push policies that dismantle labor protections which is already being done and idolize the Gilded Age, an age notorious for exploitative hours and conditions, that’s the logical outcome. The poor have to make up the gap somehow, they have to. Who else would do it??

This time period was great for the rich, it was very bad for the poor.

4. Ok, why are you bringing up science like I'm a Trump apologist, obviously that's bad.

I’m not calling you an apologist to insult you. It’s just that whenever Trump is criticized, you seem to jump in defending him. That pattern comes off as apologism to me. Normally people who have issues with what Trump is doing wouldn't fight so hard for him.

5. I was talking about book bannings when I said cancel culture.
But when people say "cancel culture on both sides, " it often overlooks scale and impact. Republicans have been behind hundreds of book bans across multiple states. If Democrats were banning books at that level, it’d be just as concerning, but that’s not what’s happening right now.

Let me know when Democrats ban the big book of cats and thousands of other books.

The scale and impact is not the same thing.

6. You sound like a politician with these pulling on heart strings stories.

It's not that at all, it's because this is what happens to people affected by trump's decisions. These are real people and real stories. There's tons like that. These are the real consequences and I feel like it's important people know.
