It's the tariffs that Musk is really complaining about. The rest of the complaints on spending bill is only face saving. It makes Musk look like he wasted his time on the cuts.
@DeWayfarer can we say is an absolute Musk is paying tariffs? There are ways around it, and Trump may not enforce tariffs on certain countries, that Elon can deal with.
Musk was fully aware of Trump's plans when he took the position. Quite sure they work it out.
Besides the cuts Trump and Musk made in my opinion were done in order to help advance is new beautiful spending bill. Cuts had to be made somewhere, make the cuts first then introduce the bill.

Year to date starts in January. Look where the tariff kicked in. Feb 1 Trump's first 10% China tariff. The pause was on Mexico and Canada only. Feb 4th it went into effect.
Elon thought his job was to reduce deficits. Actually, his job was to find window-dressing spending cuts taht provide cover for another GIANT tax cut. He's upset to discover that he was played, just like Giuliani, pillow guy, et al.
OK, Elon, put your money where your mouth is and threaten to spend millions opposing any and all congress members who vote for the "abomination."
@iamthe99 Elon didn't walk away empty handed. He got to remove key people in the National Labor Relations Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Federal Aviation Administration, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Environmental Protection Agency, and of course the Department of Justice.
All of these agencies were actively investigating or were in a position to investigate Tesla or SpaceX. Getting rid of agency inspectors general and agency heads will help Musk evade rules and regulations that other companies must follow.
That's the plan. Americans plan nothing for peace, the environment or themselves. So when you notice that they're on fire, just don't say a thing. That's normal. And they are not interested in changing.
