What should we make of a USA president who claims "we don't care about selling goods and services to external markets?"

When did the USA stop being a capitalist country?

That's nothing to do with being "capitalist" or not.

Virtually every country in the world trades with many others, irrespective of their political and economic systems, but that statement effectively says,

"We don't care about exporting to balance our imports."

In other words,

"We don't care about our country losing money."
