What should we make of a USA president who claims "we don't care about selling goods and services to external markets?"

When did the USA stop being a capitalist country?

The ultimate in capitalistic statements!

https://newrepublic.com/post/194920/donald-trump-admits-no-trade-deals

“We don’t have to sign deals. They have to sign deals with us. They want a piece of our market, we don’t want a piece of their market. We don’t care about their market. They want a piece of our market,” Trump rambled.

Capitalism is based on aristocracy! Trump truly believes he better than everyone else! And the same for the USA against the world.

What AI thinks about that statement...
Capitalism often leads to significant wealth disparities, which can create an environment where elites, like billionaires, may feel superior to others. This perception can be reflected in political figures, such as Trump, who may embody the attitudes of privilege and entitlement associated with wealth and power.

Notice it doesn't disagree!
The elite IS the aristocracy!

Aristocracy -> Feudalism -> Mercantilism -> Capitalism/Oligarchy.

One without the other then there's no capitalism. Or even Oligarchy.

Remember Bernie Sanders recent speech calling Trump's administration a Oligarchy.

The same similarities are there in both. It's why Trump admires Putin.

@DeWayfarer It's the LEAST capitalist thing to say... because it's based on the demented idea that abundance is bad and inconvenient, that free market trade is superfluous or unnecessary, and that government should control prices, supply, and consumer demand.

@MarkPaul guy i have back up saying that I am right!
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer Getting people to agree with you is hardly evidence of being right. You might as well buy yourself and wear a Red Hat because people agree with you that Alcatraz should be reopened, innocent people should be kidnapped off the street in broad daylight and jailed for writing their opinions (in a university campus newspaper), and you are going to have 90 tariff deals delivered in 90 days when you know no deal-talks have even started.

@MarkPaul you really need some history lessons.

Aristocracy -> Feudalism -> Mercantilism -> Capitalism/Oligarchy.

Your progression outlines a historical evolution of economic and social systems, highlighting how power and wealth have been structured over time. Here's a brief overview of each stage:

Aristocracy: This system is characterized by a ruling class of nobles who hold power and land. Wealth and status are often inherited, and social mobility is limited.

Feudalism: Emerging in medieval Europe, feudalism is a system where land is held by lords who grant portions to vassals in exchange for military service and loyalty. Peasants or serfs work the land and are bound to it, creating a rigid social hierarchy.

Mercantilism: This economic theory dominated from the 16th to the 18th centuries, emphasizing the role of the state in managing the economy. It focused on accumulating wealth through trade, colonial expansion, and the belief that national strength comes from a positive balance of trade.

Capitalism/Oligarchy: Capitalism emerged as a dominant economic system characterized by private ownership of the means of production and the pursuit of profit. However, it can lead to oligarchy, where a small group of individuals or corporations hold significant power and influence, potentially creating inequalities similar to those seen in earlier systems.

This progression illustrates how economic systems can evolve and how power dynamics shift over time. Each system has its own characteristics and implications for social structure, governance, and individual rights. Discussions about these transitions often involve debates about equity, justice, and the role of government in regulating economic activity.

@DeWayfarer You should try to read, process, and analyze what you cut-and-paste. Capitalism depends on "private ownership of the means of production and the pursuit of profit." What your Cry-Baby-trump is promoting (currently) is government ownership of the means of production with him as the proxy (he wants to tell businesses what prices to set, where to manufacture, what to manufacture, and who to hire, etc.) and literally the end of profit as an acceptable business motive.

Instead of worshipping him, hold him up to critical thinking which can't effectively come from lazily cutting-and-pasting words.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul guy that was AI generated. I had to copy and paste
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer That's the point, genius. AI is a tool to use smartly with human intervention, not an oracle to worship as the final word. Stop falling into lazy habits and try thinking for yourself.

@DeWayfarer No, that's not it. You don't want to admit that your Cry-Baby-trump is trying to dismantle capitalism in full view of a jubilent "base" of worshippers who a few months ago were aghast that Kamala Harris was suggesting she would crack down on companies who were price gouging because it seemed anti-capitalism.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul Trump IS A EXTREMIST!

TRUMP IS AN EXTREME CAPITALIST!

No better than Aristotle, who despised Greek DEMOCRACY!

@MarkPaul It's that very attitude that Aristotle as well as was infamous for.

Heck Bernie Sanders himself used the term oligarchy! A parallel to capitalism!
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer You are still stuck on feeling popular because someone agrees with you. Cry-Baby-trump has become the anti-capitalist among us. He is promoting government control over all aspects of commerce including business operations and consumer demand. That is fundamental. Even Bernie Sanders isn't calling for that.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul of course Bernie Sanders isn't calling for either form of capitalism or oligarchy!

Bernie is a socialist!
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer And, socialism calls for government control and moderation of the economy... NEWSFLASH... just like Cry-Baby-trump. Wake-up and smell reality.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul extreme capitalism is one step behind mercantilism. That doesn't believe in government controls. See the Medici family they started mercantilism!

Trump wants no government controls!
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer WHAT??? What do you call federal imposed tariffs, telling companies they better not raise their prices, wanting to tell companies who they can hire and what their hiring practises should be, and telling consumers what their purchasing behaviour should be... for themselves and their kids?

Are you even currently residing on Earth?
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul EXECUTIVE ORDERS is not the government!

These tariffs are not going through Congress!

You really think that Congress would allow these tariff? 🤣

Even Republicans are complaining
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer That's semantics. They are still going through and Congress is quizzing the Secretary of Treasury about them as he is unable (or unwilling) to answer, "Who pays for tariffs" and the Commerce Secretary claims he has tariff deals done and some felon-advisor (Peter Navarro) proclaims, "90 deals in 90 days."

I repeat: Are you currently residing on Earth.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul are you residing in this universe!?🤷🏻‍♂

These tariffs would never go through congress!
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer More semantics. But, they are going through... which is even more tragic because Congress is endorsing them with their silence and roll-over behaviour.

So, you are not residing on Earth. I suppose that is your defence.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul alternate universe's is your thing it must be, because what is happening is going solely through Trump. Trump is not the federal government!
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer WHAT??? So, you're promoting the Red Hat idea that the election was rigged, stolen, and didn't really happen and he wasn't elected to represent the federal government?

What institutionalized "nest" do you want your mail forwarded to, McMurphy?
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@MarkPaul you are the one saying that Trump is the federal government!
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer I'm the one saying he represents the federal government. He officially speaks for the federal government. He is the executive of the federal government. So, yes... in essence he is the federal government.
